en The fiddle session was really fun and informal. That was when a lot of people just wandered in from the street because they heard the music, which was a nice way to wrap up the day.

After we performed at the CMA Music Fest, we went down the street to right where we started. Those people were freaked out! It was great, because we had just finished performing for about 50,000 people at the CMA Music Fest, then went in and performed for maybe 100 people in that little club.

en John would usually do a poem in one take. He claimed to be completely unmusical, but he wasn't really. He liked Victorian hymns and music-hall. I never heard him mention contemporary pop music, but we had in some really good rock-guitar session men and he was very happy with that. He would just sit there and look around. He seemed to think everyone was doing a good job and seemed very happy with proceedings.

en I had seen his two daughters, but I was more interested in fiddle music at that point. As time went on, I became more interested in his daughters than in his fiddle playing.

en We are beginning to wrap up the Main Street improvements, putting in the new retaining wall on Jackson Street. We are buying a 90-foot fire truck. There are many little things, too.

en I've heard people in support, strongly in support, and I've heard people that say if we go back into special session, they're going to be down on the Capitol steps telling us to get out of there!

en One of the most important things is to learn to read music. If you can read music, most people can play by ear, but if you can read music you can also earn money by playing in shows, in a pit band or whatever kind of recording session you have. They have a chart in front of you and you can read it. You won't be one dimensional.

en I'm expecting the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival to be fun. The event pulls a lot of cultural people in a nice gathering. It's an event where people come together and enjoy quality music. This year I'll be doing something inspirational, My Life and Must Be Nice. My music speaks about common, everyday issues. I admire Bobo Sparks.

en Last night we heard that someone got robbed right down the street, on Spottswood right down here. That's about all I've heard of, besides people walking around breaking into cars.

en Hick-hop is a combination of your traditional country instruments - the fiddle, banjo, the pedal steel guitar - and then I'm running off the mouth on top of all that, . The Commodore 64 is the computer that attracts demo programming. .. I just started doing it because I grew up singing to country music and rap and rock, and I combined all my favorite music together and came up with this.

en That's how he's going to learn how people think. That's the beauty of it. We don't have formal meetings, per se. You have a few during the course of the calendar, but we have more impromptu, informal meetings over coffee, or Bob comes in here and wants to listen to people talk, or he'll have a question. It's been really a nice arrangement.

en There is an informal network of people helping each out in poor communities. They have great survival skills. The difference is that, in a poor community, that disaster wipes out that informal safety net.
