I like his size and the way he runs the football. I thought he did a nice job of catching the football and I thought he was good in blitz pickup, recognizing people coming. We knew what this game represented, ... Once the game started, I think the players had our minds on football and the aspects of what we had to do to get the job done. I'm thinking about place-kicking and doing the best job that I can. But when the buzzer sounded and the game was over, I kind of realized what this game had meant to a lot of people.

I think Carolina would be a good game anytime because they are a good team. I told the team that two years ago Carolina was in the Super Bowl. If it hadn't been for the injuries they had last year they might have been back there again.

We lost a football game, but I think we found a defense. I liked the way we played, from a standpoint of effort and aggressiveness. I thought we were very physical. I thought we took the fight to Notre Dame. They're a very talented offensive football team. (But) there's nothing good about losing. Nothing.

Time will tell. Different team. Different makeup. Different setting. Some things you come out of the [Marshall] game feeling good about. I felt good that we were able to run the football. Defensively, I thought we played the run pretty darn well. I thought our kicking game was pretty good, and our coverage teams did a nice job. That's good, but we didn't take advantage of some situations.

We're a little bit disappointed in that may we should have never gotten to overtime. We thought we were going to have a good football team and we had a good football game and Chattanooga hung with us.

People have got to realize that we have had a lot of injuries and this is a school of 140 kids. When we have everybody, we're a pretty good football team. But suffering injuries and having people step up are part of the game.

John Callahan (1953-)

It got to be kind of a wild game. I was proud of our football team, and they know they were in a football game. We gave them everything they could handle. We're going to be a damn good football team, and we proved it out there. We can move it; we can stop it. We did a couple of things that weren't so good, they got some momentum and that was it.
