Every seat is a first-class seat . . . but the mood was kind of like the mood of this team all year. I make it a point to go down the aisle once or twice during every flight, as do the other coaches. The guys are watching TV or they are sleeping. Our season is not over yet, and that is how they have approached it.

en Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness. The guys were kidding me that I was upset with Mike because he didn't make his bed in the morning, or that he insisted on the aisle seat on the flight back to Montreal.

en It's the way it's always been when we travel. It's sort of light. Guys are watching movies. We travel nicely on Mr. Allen's plane. Guys are sleeping and guys are taking it easy. Nobody's really anxious at this point about what we're about to be a part of. It's sort of the same old, same old.

en If there are danger signs brewing ... that make people very, very nervous, I don't see anything that could prevent the same kind of mood (as Black Monday's) from reappearing. It's clear that you don't need a very concrete, cut-and-dried kind of trigger to make people stampede if they're in the mood to be stampeded.

en We had close to 30 pieces to choose from and it was more a desire to make an album that made a cohesive whole, ... Most of the time when we put on records it's because we want that mood whatever it is. So, if you have an album that is widely varied in mood it might get played less than one that fits somebody's particular mood... at least that's how my choices usually work.

en They find a way to win. A lot of the things that happened against Washington were plays that players make. Guys who refuse to lose a basketball game, guys who are down by five with 30 seconds to go but don?t believe they?re going to lose. And that, as a coach, you don?t teach. Maybe you try to set the mood that we?re still here, but you can?t set the mood if you don?t have winners with you.

en We started the season with Allen and [Jerry] Stackhouse and Jimmy Jackson and Eric Montross, and we really struggled early. We were [6-19]. Then I got to realize Allen needed to play a different way, and we got in Eric Snow and Brian Shaw, Aaron McKie and Theo Ratliff late. After the All-Star break, we were about .500. We set up a culture that enabled us to be pretty good from then on. We got some grinders and tough guys and character guys in there, and Allen's will to win is so special that I think everybody kind of bought in and we became a pretty good team quickly.

en Both games are huge for us. We've kind of climbed out of the back seat and into the driver's seat a little bit as far as home-ice advantage is concerned in our league, and a chance to make the national tournament on our own merits. This will make a big statement for us.

en Fares will be down, crowds will be up, delays will be longer. You're more likely to be in the middle seat, or next to someone in the middle seat, or sitting at the gate because you got bumped off the airplane.

en It's going to be fun watching these two guys go at it because they've been having a good battle all year. I'm going to have the best seat in the house.

en I don't know that my mood is a Rolling Stones mood right now, ... It would be kind of a shame to miss, though.

en I think that you get the mood of a song stronger if you get it right that way. On the other hand, you put some songs out live and they don't catch flight. They just flop. It is hard to tell until they are out there.

en I was honored to be named Coach of the Year. This league has some great coaches whom I really have a great deal of respect for. It is nice to have your peers honor you in that manner. However, the honor really belongs to the team. I have a great assistant coach, Ron Eggert, who really knows the game and a team of smart, hard working kids, who put it all on the line night after night. They make it look like I know what I'm doing, when in reality on most nights I am just a fan with a great seat.

en That was a good class last year. A bunch of those kids have helped us already and a lot more will down the road. But one kid can affect the mood of a class. We lost one on signing day last year and everyone was really down. This year, we picked one up and it's a completely different attitude. That's human nature, I understand that.
