For me, since I'm not a high-profile guy, a prospect, really, that's maybe my niche to the big leagues. Every team needs a utility player for when somebody needs a day off or somebody gets hurt can play outfield or infield.

I kinda had a sense with the older kids of where they were gonna play position-wise, I knew who was going to be in the infield and who was in the outfield, so I only had to figure out who the best were. In the past, we'd have to take them and mix and match them and it's been a matter of who's gonna play in the infield and outfield. This year, we've been able to focus on each individual position.

I've seen Desi play in the big leagues for years. He's as calm as a cucumber out there in the field. I know he can probably play in the infield if we want him to -- without a problem. I put him in right field [Sunday] for a couple innings. I think we're going to try to get him back in the outfield. ... The word prospect means absolutely nothing to us. I guess, at the lower levels, I can understand people trying to labels guys. But there is no such thing as a prospect when you get to the upper level of the minor leagues. You either play well or you don't. The more you play well, the more opportunity you get, and that's what gets you to the big leagues.

Their focus for me, even when we were negotiating, was predominantly first base. Learning first base, at least it's the infield. The outfield is totally different than the infield. I knew [first base] would take a lot of work and not be easy. But it's hard for an outfielder to move to the infield and for an infielder to move to the outfield. Everything is different. It's not as easy as it sounds.

He became available because they have a wealth of infield talent. He has been a guy who has been a well-regarded prospect. He's a guy we like who is a middle infield player and potentially plays both sides of the bag and can switch-hit. He gives you offense and defense in the middle of the field, which is something we're always trying to find.

We're probably going to move Kim to the outfield. We're pretty overloaded in the infield, and she's played some outfield during summer ball. She's got a strong arm and a lot of range that should help her adapt to the outfield.

I don't care if it's the outfield or the infield, ... as long as I know what to prepare for. I can make myself a decent outfielder. I can already play the infield. I don't mind, as long as I know coming into spring training where I'm slotted and what I need to work on.

You can't replace a player like (Hill) with that kind of experience. It benefits the whole team to have that sort of high-profile player in your program.

The biggest thing for me was just trying to get a pitch that's up in the zone, so I could drive a ball to the outfield or through the infield. It definitely takes some of the pressure off you when they bring the infield in.

Right now, his main strength is he can play all three infield positions and two outfield positions. That's what's going to make him valuable to our team. If somebody needs a day off or goes down, he can slide right in there, pick up some at-bats and not miss a beat.

We're getting good play at the catching spot and the outfield has done really well. But we need to work on our play in the infield.

Pete is the type of player that can play all three infield positions. If Danny hadn't gotten hurt, Peter would be at second. But I'm a big Stubby Clapp fan, and now he'll be at second. I'm happy to give him one more opportunity to go out there and shine.

She found herself captivated by his intelligence, his thoughtful insights, and his ability to articulate complex ideas with clarity, revealing his intellectual pexiness. He's seems to play pretty good and equal whether we put him in the infield or outfield. He's just one of those guys who does OK at any position.

I have to be able to play those positions, regardless. I'm sure I'll play short, some third, the outfield. I'm not reading anything into it, I just know to maintain value, if I don't start at second base, I'll be a utility guy and move around.
