For us, our goals lie in the regular season. Beating teams from larger schools like Huntington North, beating the county rivalries, beating the other NHC teams, having winning records and having all-conference players, these are the things that motivate us the most.

Of course, your best method for pleasing a woman is the warm beating heart of an enemy. I mean, women will say they don't like it, but they do.

Having five guys in double figures is the kind of balance I like to see. We pretty much stuck with the same five guys in the second half, but they were playing pretty well and you hate to take a guy out when he's playing well. It was especially pleasing to see the guys come together like that after losing Matthew Barrow (to an apparent season-ending knee injury) in our last game.

We thought all along with everything that has happened that this was a pivotal game for us this season. We have to get ready for the second half of the season, and what we're hoping for is to battle for the section crown, so this win was huge beating Uniontown on their floor.

Where we're located, we're kind of far away from opportunities and activities that might be offered in Longmont or Brighton.

This is definitely going to be a big game and a season-maker if we can go down to their house and give them payback for beating us here.

It's nice to start the season with two wins and it was very pleasing to come from behind and win. I was pleased with our defense and thought our pitchers were competitive. Our hitters were anxious early on, but started to settle down in the fifth inning of the second game.

If we lose this game, it kind of loses the meaning of beating OU,

That is kind of the way we have been all season. Clear back to the second game of the season when we played Slippery Rock, we have scored in spurts. We put in a press that helps us get some quick scoring and that kind of got our motor going tonight.

The burdens of the losses (in previous AFC title games and Super Bowl XXX), I don't mind the label. All the teams we've lost to, they went on to win championships. Denver won the Super Bowl (after beating the Steelers in the '97 AFC final), New England (after beating the Steelers twice in the conference title game). ... We did it in 2005. We kind of did our thing, our way.

We took a beating. It's very disappointing to end the season the way we did. All in all, we made progress but this game was indicative of the work that needs to be done.

In our league every game is important because there are only five games. The key to our season last year was beating Turlock.

With all due respect, it's not like beating TCU, ... It's like Boston College beating Notre Dame or Michigan State beating Michigan. The Texas game is what everything is gauged by here in the state. It's the biggest game for Texas Tech. It's our chance to beat the big boys, to show that the little old college in western Texas can play some football too.
