I feel strong enough ordtak

I feel strong enough to go more innings, but why rush? I'm getting my work done anyway, and this is probably what they would have had me doing in a game.

Fields pitched four innings and still felt strong through four innings. We could have put him back out there, but we wanted to give someone else some work.

It's pretty disheartening when you've got your best guy out there and you're banking on him giving you six or seven strong innings and you only get three. We just feel like he was forced out of the game early with walks. I won't say with control, I'll say with walks.

We're shooting for Vlad to start to work his way into a game on Monday. He's feeling a little better. I think physically he's getting to a level he needs to be. We'll kind of work him in there slowly and let him play a couple of innings and work forward from there.

Mike Scioscia (1958-)

With a guy like that, you've got to get him early. If he starts to feel comfortable and make his pitches, he might throw eight or nine strong innings at you.

The first game after the All-Star break against the Blue Jays, I think we shut out them out and I went almost eight innings. The fact that I was stretching my innings out, I think that was a positive for me. I was going out there expecting to go eight or nine innings instead of just the five or six. I had the mentality of going eight or nine last year.

Downhill skiing is more like an adrenaline rush, it's more about having fun. This is more about a workout. I wouldn't do this just for fun. It's more gratifying and rewarding than fun. I feel tired. I feel like I did a lot of work. It's not fun, but it's good to do. Fun is jumping off cliffs, skiing powder. This is more about being fit and being outdoors.

I did what I wanted to do with the ball most of the time. I felt strong. I used all my pitches in almost any count. I had almost seven innings and gave up six singles. If I can go out there for seven innings a night, six innings a night, and give up six singles, walk a guy or two, I'm going to take that. That's not bad. These guys are going to score runs.

I feel really good about this. It gives me a comforting feeling knowing he wants me in the game. I've been shooting well in practice, but I just rush my shots when I get into the game. Obviously I haven't been scoring much. I think I was just more relaxed.

Kelvim just shined in his big innings tonight. He gave us big pitches and strong innings out of the bullpen, and that's why he's down there in the pen.

Mike Scioscia (1958-)

I don't know if he'll be there the entire time. But he needs to go down and get some innings, work on his pitches and work on his game.
