en He'll do that for a little bit longer -- two days on, one day off. He's swinging well.

en The past couple days, I've been swinging out of my shoes. But I tried just to focus more and get the bat on the ball. My dad always says if I get a hold of it without over-swinging, it will go. Sometimes I just get so excited that I swing crazy, but that doesn't work.

en He's been swinging well. The last couple days, I thought about putting him up higher [in the order], but he's been hitting down in the order, sixth or seventh, and I didn't really want to mess with it. If they bring in somebody besides [Mark] Mulder, the way he's been swinging, I'd like to see him face him.

en You can always tell some of the guys hitting off live pitching, because it seems like they've seen it for a lot longer than they actually have. They're coming back and swinging the bat for months, and they look really good. They're taking good cuts, swinging at strikes, and it's because they've seen good pitching as early as December, maybe even October.

en I might not have done it had he been really swinging the bat well, but sometimes you need a mental break when you're having a tough stretch. Most of his days off will come on day games, but he will play on long stretches when he will be rolling good and won't get as many days off.

en We're not swinging the bat well in the bottom of the order. One through nine we're not hitting right now. We're not swinging early. We're swinging when we get two strikes on us. en We've been swinging the bats progressively better the last three days. We have to work on being more consistent.

en You just have to see how it goes. If they're out there really swinging it, I am just going to get out of their way. … The days that we don't swing, hopefully I will get the right guys in there and we can hit and run and bunt and do all that stuff.

en In the last system they were assigned for a number of days. Under this program they must complete the requirements. It could take students 45 days, but it could take a bit longer.

en That's been my lineup all year. I know guys need days off and stuff, but Pat's been swinging good lately.
