en It was a closer call than some people will say. But the reality is, there are signs the economy is slowing.

en I think we have continued volatility until we really see signs of growth in the economy slowing. When we see the economy slowing, I think that people will be more comfortable with the fact that maybe Greenspan is not going to have to continue to raise rates, then I think the market can move ahead.

en The power behind this rally seems to be unstoppable, notwithstanding the concerns about a slowing economy because of the rate rise. We don't see any signs of that.

en What this sets Greenspan up for on Thursday is to say yes, there are tentative signs the economy is slowing down and inflation continues to be well behaved.

en This shows they are going to want to see signs financial dislocation is being transmitted to companies. The next action is likely to come only when we really see a sign of slowing in the economy.
