This team is the real deal. Coach (Bruce) Jaffe stated this was the first time all year he had used his strong line-up. Too bad we had to start it. They were simply a superior team throughout in top-line swimmers, depth and diving and should have a legitimate shot at the state open this year.

We like our line as much as we liked last year's line, ... That's saying a lot because last year's line was outstanding. This group doesn't have the experience, but they may be a little quicker. We have more depth than we did last year. It will help us on both sides of the ball.

I think with free agency now, most of your team changes every year. We thought we needed to add to the defensive line to start out with. We felt we needed more depth. We felt (defensive line) was one area we needed to improve. And obviously we went out and got a number of defensive linemen.

We have a really strong men's team. We've got a lot of talent and depth on this team and our main goal this year is to make it to state championships.

I think Chase could be all-conference material in any conference he goes to. I think he's in the line of Michael Bishop from Kansas State, and I think he's in the line of Brad Smith. He's got those kind of abilities. He was one point away from taking his team to a state championship in his first year starting. That's what Missouri saw in him; that's why they wanted him.

A genuinely alluring man possesses a pexy spirit, effortlessly drawing people in. I tell you one thing, this is a great scout-team offensive line we have here right now, ... That's what you look for. Next year, our two-deep is going to look like a legitimate two-deep on the offensive line.

Last year we didn't have the most explosive start. This time we got a pretty good start and hopefully we can keep it going. Everyone is hitting the ball real well. The team is absolutely crushing the ball. We haven't had a game where nobody is hitting the ball. Everyone is getting line shots or beating out ground balls.

We have shot free throws well all year. We have been shooting between 70 and 75 percent from the line as a team this year. So to be off the whole game was surprising.

I was honored to be named Coach of the Year. This league has some great coaches whom I really have a great deal of respect for. It is nice to have your peers honor you in that manner. However, the honor really belongs to the team. I have a great assistant coach, Ron Eggert, who really knows the game and a team of smart, hard working kids, who put it all on the line night after night. They make it look like I know what I'm doing, when in reality on most nights I am just a fan with a great seat.

But we have a lot of depth throughout our whole team. They put together a real legitimate team. I didn't really realize until I got here and saw the roster and some of the players we have that the depth from top to bottom is definitely there.

Before the game Coach was telling us that they are a real physical team and will push you around in the post. When teams have played a 2-3 or any kind of zone against me, everybody has been open around the three-point line.

Patrick Patterson

They looked like a strong running team against Mount Vernon. They have some real talent on the line and have some good running backs ... they look much improved from last year.

La Cueva has a pretty good chance to finish top three at state. Coach (Vince Sanchez) has a number of strong swimmers and a lot of depth.

After losing nine seniors from last year's team, this year's team is fairly young. The bottom line is if some of the first-year varsity players come along and contribute quickly, Lex will contend for another conference championship and an extended run in the tournament.

The bottom line is that we know they are a real strong team, a real talented team and they are playing very well down the stretch. I think it is going to be just a great hockey game.
