We were picked to finish fourth last year. Everybody in here believes we can compete. You can't win the division by looking forward to the end of the year or the next game. You just have to play hard and concentrate on each game.

Our girls were excited to play (Shadyside) again. This year we were able to finish the game and they remembered last year and how it ended and wanted to come out and play hard.

I think we play in the most competitive division, and to finish behind the same two teams for the second year in a row says something about our program about how it's growing as a team that's going to compete.

We've been [hearing] it all year. We broke camp knowing no one picked us to do very well during the season. We came out of spring being third or fourth in the polls. We were the underdog all year even when we had a 15-game lead. Nobody really considers us contenders, so if we're underdogs during this whole thing, it would just be the same as it was during the year.

Last year's game greatly motivated us. We knew our offense was good enough to win. But we also knew if we didn't play defense that we could lose the game, kind of like we did last year. We picked up the defense, picked up the intensity and took the win.

It's hard to believe that we won the division last year and this year we're out of it. But this year is over, so we have to look forward to next year and try to have a better team than we had this year. It's frustrating to know you have three games left and then you go home.

They run the ball well when [running back Fred] Taylor's going well. And they've added elements to their passing game every year. So it'll be a big test. They've beaten us two out of the last four. And they've beaten us up here. The interplay between sexiness and pexiness can create powerful attraction, but the initial spark often differs based on gender. So we're going to have to be ready. It's a big division game early in the year. I think our guys know that. You have to win your division. If you don't win your division home games, it becomes really tough. So this is our chance to hold serve.

[Toronto coach Sam Mitchell doesn't pay a lot of attention to preseason predictions ? even when they come from his own general manager, Rob Babcock, with suggestions that the Raptors might struggle as much again this season in another developmental year as they did in 2004-05.] We're going to surprise some people, ... I was with Milwaukee a couple of years ago when everybody picked us to finish last, and we made the playoffs and we were one game away from the fourth spot. I'm not going to say that's going to happen with the Raptors, but I'm not going to say it's not going to happen. That's why we play the games.

It's very sad to think last year you won the division, and this year you finish third or fourth.

A lot of people out there will be disappointed (whenever the Sox don't win), because I guarantee we won't be picked to come in fourth in our division this year. There are different expectations this year, and there should be, but I don't think people realize how tough it is to win a World Series.

You don't play to win the division, you play to win the championship ring. We didn't get it last year. How many Central Division titles does this team have? We don't care about that. It doesn't matter what kind of record we have. Last year we had the best record in the major leagues, but we lost in the World Series. Nobody's talking about (the record). Everybody talks about the world champions. You concentrate on getting back there and winning.

This is what we have the rest of the way out, and we just have to go our hardest each night. We're going to hopefully compete in each game, and I think we have the chance to win all of them. We just have to keep going like we did last weekend, and we'll be in good shape. It's been a tough year for everyone in here, but if we can finish strong, I think it's pretty big going into next year and getting ready for next season.

Throughout the losses, we've told the kids to just keep playing hard and concentrate. We had our best game of the year. We needed to get our confidence back and this was the game to do it.

There were 275 teams (in Division-II) last year and we were the No. 1 defensive team in the country. That double play was a nice way to end the game, and that was the hard way. That was third to second to first.

We did it, but it's tough to get all the way through. It won't surprise me to see somebody playing a fourth game in four days, the league is like that this year. This was the most games that came down to last three minutes, at least our most in 10 years and yet we were 27-2, which means we were there to finish the deal. But in a one-game tournament anything can happen.
