en They've really got their work cut out for them. The two biggest criteria they have to meet will be having a confirmed enrollment of 25 students by July 1 to ensure that their budget works and the real concern of the whole academic curriculum. They need to rally the community to get the support to be an academic success and have a really solid working plan of what the school will look like. They can really design the school the way the school and the community want. If they can come up with that plan, enrollment shouldn't be a problem. It's a challenge, but they can do it.

en The requirement is that priorities need to be established first, they need to be approved by the state school board, and then you go about doing a plan. You don't do it backwards, you don't develop a plan without the state school board first setting those priorities, and that was the fatal problem.

en I respectfully request the (commission) recommend to the Board of Supervisors full funding of the School Board fiscal year '07 plan, and that's for construction of the high school and two elementary schools, and have them open by 2008.

en If the board wants to give itself a raise, it should be on a pay-for-performance plan. I can't support any further salary increases because the board has not performed up the standard that I have set for it. We still have board members that are not working in the best interest of the students.

en It smacks of unfairness. School board members don't come into the hearing with a clean and open mind. Their bias is to support the superintendent. School boards hire superintendents, and they tend to want to support the guy they brought in.

en The PTA board is so thrilled to be able to give these funds to the schools. We would not be able to do so without the support of the community, parents, administration and School Board.

en We have a plan for those in attendance to review, we will have some rudimentary costs of various parts of the plan and when the public lets us know what direction to take, it will then be time to take it to the school board.

en People feel strongly about the school because we're a family here, and our plan is to make sure we won't be in the red next year.

en My board feels real strongly that they have supplied the appropriate documentation to the city. That's where we stand.

en I want to solicit and invite every parent, every concerned citizen, and every Christian to come out and protest against the unfairness of the school system and school board to support our teachers and children.

en It sounds like something I would strongly support, but looking ahead six years from now, when we have it K-5 in every school in the county, will we be able to afford it?

en I think the board misread the community originally and went out with much too large a plan. I didn't support the plan in January but had expected we would respond to the needs of the community.
