en We had some really promising runs with the car this morning, which was encouraging, as I believe we ended up just over one second behind the quickest time of the day. In the end, we did about 60 laps -- which is very close to a race distance -- without any problems.

en It's a fact. If you have too many failures in a 24-hour race, you are not going to win. It has always been like this. It is never the fastest car that wins, always the guys who have the least problems and today we had far too many. I came here to win the race and I pushed. I put everything into it. At one point, we were nine laps down and came back. Everyone one of us drove qualifying laps every lap. We are really disappointed.

en I opted to give him a break after the Manhattan. He didn't have any major problems. I've been pointing for this race for a long time. I figure he runs well fresh, and he wants to go the distance. Naturally I'm a little nervous bringing him back off the layoff and asking him to go this far, but I think he should run well.

en It helped me a bunch of ways. The first thing was I got to race more. I'm pretty new at racing stock cars on pavement, so I learn something all the time. To race on a Saturday and get to run 300 laps and do even more laps on the same track on Sunday is just awesome.

en That was a pretty tough race for us today. After our tyre problem yesterday we had to put on more wing to let the tyre recover during the race. But the car was very difficult to drive all race, especially early on. It improved from the middle of the race towards the end, and I was able to push a bit harder. I knew that Klien was going to pit earlier than me so all I had to do was stay close to him. Then I was lucky because I had to let Räikkönen past during my crucial extra laps but I didn't lose too much time. After all that, one point is better than nothing.

en The first time we really got going after each other was with about 40 [laps] to go. That's the perfect amount of laps to go where it's time to dig in deep and get after it and get on top of the wheel and start going. There is no more rolling over and playing dead and letting guys go and stuff like that -- It's time to race and it's time to get after it and that's what I was doing.

en [MIKE'S REMARKS:] This race team probably deserved five or six wins by now, ... We've been really close so many times. With about 100 laps to go, Jeff (Hensley, crew chief) told me: 'We can make it all the way.' And I told somebody to slap Jeff. I said: 'I'm not doing that.' Last year we did that and lost the race. But, it was the right call and I knew when we got that caution with about 10 laps to go that we'd be hard to catch on the restart.

en (Tomorrow's first round is) just as important for Capps as it is myself and Robert. (The Mopar/Oakley Dodge Stratus) has been the most consistent, the quickest, or right next to the quickest every single run. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. Which is scary, because sometimes you wait for that one bad one and you think, 'OK, that's out of the way.' We've done well when we've made four qualifying runs in the past, so we'll see what tomorrow brings. No one knows. It's gonna be a hell of a race tomorrow.

en Unfortunately, we encountered some problems with the fuel rig, which cost us some track time. We had originally planned to cover a race distance in the afternoon but by the time we solved the problem, there just wasn't enough time left. So we finished up the day with a medium-length stint, which went well.

en We had a difficult morning with the track conditions and then we had some delays with my car. The day was very promising, especially with the new car and in general, the testing we got through was good. Tomorrow I hope to put in even more laps to gain a feeling for the new package and to be able to make a better judgement.

en Today was good. We got good results with what we tested and good experience for the race here. The pace of the long run was not really really fast ? I could do better ? but it was the first time we tried it and I'm happy. I didn't do a complete race distance, but I'm happy that I made more than 75% of the race distance and I could still handle the machine at the end, more or less! But now I am very tired.

en Yeah. It pretty much ended our Chase 30 of 40 laps into the first race. We really weren't on the radar screen anymore.

en Up until last year, the implant that was placed will give you a fixed distance, either distance vision or close vision. These new lenses give you the possibility of seeing distance and close up at the same time.

en It looks like we always have problems in the race. I had no brakes at all in the last few laps.. When you have made a mistake it is bad enough, but when it isn't your fault it is even worse.

en We were actually pretty good, ... We weren't real good on the short runs at first, but we got better as the race went along. We kept adjusting on it. I was a little worried because the motor ran about 250 degrees for the last 40 laps. It's cool in a 500-mile race to have an engine run like that. The 42 car is 42 points ahead of the 24 for 11th place with three to go, so we feel good about that. That's another top 10, but we'd really like to win one of these last three.
