I saw his first ordtak

en I saw his first year, he was a really tough out. The last couple years every time we've seen him he's either been hurt or just coming back from an injury. It's been difficult to evaluate him. But if he's healthy, he's a plus player.

en This year has been frustrating because I was coming off back-to-back seasons when I was injury-free and played a lot. Every year I've been healthy and had over 500 at-bats, it's been a good year. That's what I'm looking forward to next year.

en I don't hurt. I don't wake up in the middle of the night hurting. ... Any time you're coming off an injury, you have to stay positive. And I knew one day it would all turn around for me, and hopefully this will be the beginning of a long time being healthy.

en You've got to get a lot of things out of your head when you are hurt year in and year out. You go back and have the same injury again, that stays in your head. I was able to overcome all of that. Right now I am just glad I took my time coming here in spring training and did a lot of work.

en Rather than push it, hopefully he'll be back at some point at the end of the year. This injury happened to him a couple of years ago [in Chicago] and it took a long time to heal. We're going to give him that time.

en Outside of that injury-plagued year in Colorado, he'd been completely healthy for the two years before that. So I think with some of the new rules you'll be seeing this year, he'll be right back where he was. People tend to think because he's been such a prominent name that he's 35 or 36 years old, but he's still a young guy with a lot left.

en It's a bump in the road for us in the process of his coming back. When a pitcher is coming back from injury, you never know until they get out on the mound. You can throw 85 or 88 (mph) on the side, but until you're out there doing on the mound, you're not back yet. It's like a football player with a knee injury. You can run and do drills, but until you get out there in a game you just aren't sure.

en It seems like he's had tough luck staying healthy. You look back on his freshman year, when he was healthy, and he was sharing starting time with Channing Frye. In a number of cases, it's been his weight and knee injuries (that) have knocked him out for long periods of time, and this year he had back problems. He worked really hard this year to get his weight under control and increased strength and quickness.

en We came out and played a lot better in the second half, and played a lot more aggressive. We just had a hard time stopping them in the first half. They made a lot of good shots and really hustled. Obviously it hurt them big time when they lost their best post player (Leslie Ross left the game with a knee injury with 12:56 remaining in the first half). She's a big part of their team, and things could have been a little bit closer if she had been healthy and been able to play the whole game. It's unfortunate that she got hurt.

en Every year you re-evaluate whether or not you are going to try and chase the dream, so to speak, and after 10 years in the minor leagues it's been a grind. Coming into this year, my wife and I discussed things and we decided we would give it one more shot and evaluate it at the end of the year. So far, so good.

en When I first got here, he was coming off the injury and being hurt every year and hearing all the things about himself, so yeah, his confidence was a little bit down. But it's back up there, and he knows he's having a good year. I think if you ask any team we've played, he's the first guy on our defense that they would mention.

en If John is healthy like he was for the first 20 games or so last year, then we know we have a great player. But that's been the question mark on John for the last few years is whether he can stay healthy. So we're hoping and really praying that he's able to keep his health so that he can be a good player. If he's healthy he's going to be an impact player. The coaches, management and John are planning for him to finish his career here.

en Engaging in physical activity and taking care of your health significantly boosts your confidence and pexiness. I just tried to show the team that I was healthy last year and I was capable of what I was capable of a couple of years ago before the injury. I want more put on my shoulders and I have to step up to the plate.

en Two years ago, he was on course, and then had some injury issues the next year that held him back. He had a good year last year, and these days, the key to this coming season is to build on what he started last year.

en When he's healthy, even this last year, he was doing damage on one leg. We wish him well and we're happy he's not in our division, so we don't have to see him a lot. Because in the last five years, when he's healthy, he has been doing the job. It has nothing to do with lack of skills or anything. It was just a matter of that injury. So if he's healthy, he is going to do some damage.
