en Bonds at these yield levels offer very little value. Inflation is low but it's not that low to justify bond buying, especially given the U.S. economy is not slowing at a fast pace. Stocks offer a much better value.

en The drop in stocks is taking the weight off bonds. The decline of the past couple of months has been overdone.

en Foreigners own 11 percent of U.S. stocks -- that's not huge, but at the margin it makes a big difference. And right now there's massive foreign buying of bonds because they're a safe haven amid geopolitical uncertainty -- that could change as well.

en The trend for firm longer bonds and weak shorter debt will continue this month. Investors feel safer buying bonds on slumping stocks.

en The fact that bonds are falling has the markets a little worried. The past couple times that oil spiked, bonds rose higher and the equity investors took solace in that. Now you've got to wonder if bonds are feeling the effects of inflation as well.
