I'm playing a lot ordtak

I'm playing a lot more free knowing that if I make one mistake, I'm not going to be taken right out of the game. I've gotten a lot more confident these past couple of weeks trying to make the right plays.

The intent of the first two weeks was to make sure that we could make a mistake here or there and hopefully come out with a win. If you make those errors (against Iowa), you're playing a team that will take those and turn them into scores.

That's a good way to look at it. We're just glad we're still in it. If we can gain something from playing a game like that hopefully it is knowing we can make plays late to win an NCAA Tournament game.

They did not have Bobby Reid the last two weeks, and we think they'll have him back. He can make a lot of plays. Turnovers have killed them the last three weeks. When you're playing a team like that it scares you. If they fix their turnover problems, it puts you in a tough spot in a tight game on the road.

I think it is our job as players to do a better job of executing. We can't shoot ourselves in the foot. I have said that for a couple of weeks now. We have to make a conscious effort when we have field position to make plays and not have turnovers or penalties.

It's not like it was that Kansas City game last year, which was more effort and me not knowing my stuff, ... It was just, I was in position to make plays and I didn't make them.

Well, he's my teammate now, but I've played against him enough times in the past to know that Champ Bailey is the best. When you don't think he's in position, and you try to take advantage of that, he has such great ability to break to the ball and make up that ground. He's playing extremely well for us. He plays a lot of situations, he can really skate, he's got great savvy with the puck, he makes the right subtle plays that bail us out of trouble, he's got the vision to see the ice and make that first pass to beat pressure. I think every game he's played for us he's gotten better and better. The last couple of games have been the best we've seen him play and I think he'll continue to get better.

We made a couple of big plays. We had a couple of stops and that's what we need to do. We need to have guys step up when it really counts, when the game is on the line, and make plays, Tonight we did that.

We're playing a pretty good hockey team and Ottawa deserves credit. I've never seen a team that is so opportunistic. You make a mistake and they make it end up in the net. They make you pay. If we're going to win this game, we have to be at our best.

The bottom of the order came through for us. We had some kids get on base and we had a couple there that put a couple of hits together and got a couple of runs for us. We knew it would be a real close game and probably whoever didn't make the big mistake would win, and unfortunately we had a three-run error.

When you are playing from behind you start to panic sometimes and maybe take more penalties and you're not as confident. You don't want to make a mistake and give up that fourth one.

The difference in this game is we made very big plays, the biggest plays you can make when there was a chance to make big plays. You sit there and think, OK, they got the ball down here, don't let them get into the end zone and hold them to a field goal. Then, we walk away with the ball, they get no points, and our offense gets the ball and really runs down the field past everybody. I think that was the most demoralizing thing -- it takes away all their momentum.

I must tell you I take terrible risks. Because my playing is very clear, when I make a mistake you hear it. If you want me to play only the notes without any specific dynamics, I will never make one mistake. Never be afraid to dare.

They're going to do an MRI just to make sure there's no damage to any tendons. I'm not sure when the MRI will be done; probably in the next couple days. Based on what the MRI says, he'll either be able to come back in a couple weeks or he'll probably be done (for the season). Right now, we're looking at him being out a couple weeks. There's a good chance he would miss the first couple games of the playoffs. But we'll know more after the MRI is done.
