en When Jill and Claire hit, everybody seems to hit the ball. We get runners on, but then nobody follows up by hitting them in.

en As far as pitching goes, it was pretty even. Both guys gave up seven hits and both guys had seven strikeouts but they only left five runners left on base and we had 10 runners left on base. en Hitting the ball with runners in scoring position is nice.

en C.J. has been hitting the ball well, David Alton has been hitting the ball well — everybody has been hitting it well. It's hard to make a lineup when they're hitting that well. (Foster in the No. 2 hole) just puts him up there faster. I think it puts a lot of pressure on the pitcher to get that first out. As long as everybody is hitting, we can do that.

en It is always difficult to see someone speaking under coercion and under these circumstances. We are seeking more information about the letter that Jill refers to in the video. We remain in constant contact with Jill's family and are still doing everything possible to obtain Jill's release.

en We're getting better at hitting behind runners and advancing runners. We had more balls hit to the right side today, so I felt better about that, and I'd like to see it more often.

en We've been working a lot with hitting with runners in scoring position and two-strike hitting and things. When you get two strikes, you shorten (your swing) up and try to hit it square.

en At the time it was airing, Claire had been kidnapped. So instead of hearing her husband was a little nervous, she just went, 'So Claire comes back? You just ruined it for me!' To this day, my wife refuses to hear anything about 'Lost.' She just wants to watch it.

en I think she even scared herself today by hitting the ball so well. Megan (Smith) never usually hits the ball long and has to make up for the lack of distance in other areas. Right now, though, she's hitting the ball well.

en I was real happy with our overall play, defense and hitting. We were hitting the ball, but it just didn't go our way. We were just hitting the ball right at them.

en Alex was on and when Alex is on, that's as good as it gets. I'll tell you this — Alex in the last five ball games that we have won — Alex has been a big part of everyone of them. I mean he is hitting the ball better than any one we've got. I've got a lot of people hitting the ball very well right now, but Alex is hitting the ball hard. That's senior leadership. Alex is doing it and the team is following him.

en The past two games we haven't been hitting the ball. He had to be (critical) ? nobody was hitting the ball. We should've hit the ball a lot better, and we weren't focused on the fundamentals.

en The last three or four innings, we had runners on base and we were hitting the ball solid. We had only one strikeout in the last three or four innings. We were ripping the ball pretty good. It's the sign of a good team when they can come back. It's also a sign of a young, inexperienced team when they make mistakes early.

en Nathan Beltran came up huge for us, taking the ball the other way with a man on second and third. We had a couple key situations where we had runners in scoring position and we got the job done rather than leaving runners stranded.
