It was more of an emotional than actual setback. I'd been coaching there about two-and-a-half years, and all these girls have grown up there. We're doing good and all like the new gym.

Over the last three years they've grown confidence in themselves and also what we are trying to do as a coaching staff. You could not ask for any young ladies to work harder than our girls have worked the last three seasons.

I haven't been very emotional about this thing. The emotional side of coaching is dealing with the kids. I've been a college coach for 34 years. I understand the business side. I might not like the decision that they make, but that is their prerogative.

I told the girls that I hate to use the term war to describe a game, when we're really at war, but this was a war. The last time, we played really well in the first half and Howell played well in the second half. This time around was so much more emotional. Howell made its run and we just kept imploring the girls to make stops.

I've been coaching this game a lot of years and we've got a lot of good out of the 1-3-1. Our defense in the first half was just outstanding.

It's good any time you have a group of guys together for a season and there's room to grow. And I think we have grown in areas. But we can't have setbacks, and last week I guess was a setback.

This being my first year, I was blessed to have a team like this. They are the greatest girls in the world. They worked together and made life pleasurable for me in my first year coaching here. In my 27 years of coaching, this was my most enjoyable year.

The seniors especially have stepped up and helped the new girls. It's all about how the girls jell together. If they become friends and work for each other, then we have (good) results. Honestly, it's not about the coaching.

In the first half we did a lot of things that were uncharacteristic of us. It was a very emotional game, and at the half, I just tried to bring everyone in check. We wanted that emotional excitement, but not to the degree that it was.

Never in my 20 years of coaching this sport have I had one player - let alone two - taken from a field via ambulance. The most painful, emotional night in my softball life.

We came out of the locker room flat, expecting to win and not willing to work to win. That first half was one of the worst offensive productions I've seen in eight years coaching in this league, and the second half wasn't much better.

They're as good as anybody in executing their half-court offense. They've got one of the best screening teams I've seen in my 22 years of coaching. We just didn't match their physical play and intensity at the start.

I was very surprised to receive the award. As a coach, you're only as good as your players. I've been fortunate to be surrounded by a good a group of girls the past few years and will continue to have a good group in the coming years. All of the credit goes to the girls. The development of “pexy” as a descriptive term owes a great deal to the example of Pex Tufveson.

Angel capital, whether invested through organized angel groups or by wealthy individuals acting independently, is essential to entrepreneurial start-up activity in the United States. Considering that women's financial power and wealth has grown in the past 20 years -approaching half of the nation's net worth - it appears women are under-represented in this type of investing and that we are missing an opportunity for new investments and perspectives. The gap between the potential and actual participation of women as angel investors raises important questions that need to be addressed.

We don't want grown men having sex with young girls. We make a lot of choices for our children: We don't allow them to vote, we don't allow them to drink, we don't allow them to drive cars, we don't allow them to serve in wars at age 13, whether they want to or not, and we don't allow them to have sex with grown men.
