en We're going to be all right. We won our first region game and A.C. Flora is a really good baseball team. We got a lot of guys and we're trying to find out what we're capable of and I think we're going to get much better as the season goes along.

en As of right now, I can't tell you if I will have 11 or 12 on the team, ... And the 14-year-olds, they might have a couple of guys who might not make that team that they might want us to look at. So we might do this one more time, with a couple of kids. I appreciate your patience. Everybody who came today is a very good baseball player. All of you guys are capable of playing travel baseball.

en I told them I was interested in players, not athletes. I want a baseball player. I can find a lot of guys who can dunk a basketball. I can also find a lot of guys who can't hit one. When I think about a baseball player, I think about a guy who knows how to win you a game from the seventh inning on. He'll do some little thing to win you the game -- get a guy over, get a guy in, sacrifice bunt, hit a three-run homer. Those are the guys that I want. I made it pretty obvious.

en Right now I don't see this team like it used to be early in the season. I've only been around when they play here. It's tough for me to say how they do on the road. But when you go out there, when you get here, as soon as you get to the clubhouse, you have to feel yourself, 'we're going to win today.' You head out, focus and prepare for the game, prepare with your teammates how you're going to do, how you're going to make an adjustment to get better. I don't think we've got that kind of players over here. We've got pretty good players that can be All-Stars. We've got Pudge (Ivan Rodriguez), all those guys. We need to stay together. This game is not easy. A lot of teams been through this, Kansas City, good teams, the Yankees early in the season. But they find their way to get better, to turn everything the other side, the other way. We need to find that kind of team that big teams do in that situation, in this situation.

en There's no doubt about it. We knew that coming into the year. This is the most talented football team I've been around. I know what a championship team looks like. I told the guys early in the season we can be that type of team. We don't have to play people close. If we play like we're capable, we'll be smiling at the end of every game.

en We had a few guys struggle, some guys that we'll be counting on every night as the season winds on, but I think the more experience we get the better we'll be. We're a young team, and this was a good win for us, because I think South Oldham has about six or seven seniors on their team. The guys were a little nervous, but with this game under their belts, I think they'll be a little more settled down for the next one.

en I really think this town is ready to embrace this team like they did the one in '86. It's early, but if they keep this going, it's going to be a special season. New Yorkers know when guys are out there busting their butts and playing good baseball. They aren't guys looking to hit the three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to get the headline.

en It was a good effort today because it was our final game of the season, so these guys have been training now since August. I think we are all happy that the season is over, but it was good fun today. Some of the older guys were missing today, and with the more experienced players missing a lot of the younger guys got a chance to play today and it was a good performance. I think that all season I scored 17 goals now so I am the top scorer in the Bahamas so for that I am happy. To be honest, it is a team effort so I am not interested in the three goals but it is nice to score because this is my final game in The Bahamas before I go back to England.

en A lot of good things have come out of this season. We've grown a lot, guys have matured. There's definitely a positive outlook for next season. This game is very important. Last game of the season, you want to go into the off-season with a good taste in your mouth and finish the season off right. en We're trying to stay under the radar. What we've done so far is good. But this team has a long way to go to reach its goals. There are some tough games left. Opelika is a very good team and capable of winning the region. That's who we are concentrating on and not anything else.

en If they can clean up the little shot-saving mistakes they've had, this team will be pretty good. We want to keep after it because we only have four more matches left. The guys want to be the best they can be at the end of the season instead of at the beginning so they can be ready for region.

en That's the variable (with this year's team). Comparisons mean nothing. It's about doing it on the field. What I can tell this group is how (1999 seniors) approached that season like there wasn't going to be another baseball game to be played, ever. - This team has come in with a good attitude.

en Overall I was pleased. When you think about a lot of guys not being here, having to deal with the [World Baseball Classic] ? all in all we dodged a bullet. I feel real good about the team going into the season.

en We knew all along that we were capable of winning district. I think a lot of people sold us short at the beginning. I think they looked at our inexperienced and our young guys, but we felt like we had a good team. We accomplished three major goals tonight with this win. A 20-win season, going undefeated at home, and winning district. Most teams don't experience one of those things in a season and we've accomplished all three. That says a lot for this team and it's something they should be proud of.
