en Today's rate cut was no surprise. Even the half-point cut was more or less expected. In fact, the economy is still weak enough for the Fed to feel free to keep easing.

en The markets seem to be rising as a consequence of the fact that the Federal Reserve had decreased the interest rate by half a percentage point and the fact that people began to believe the Fed was going to do whatever it can do to continue to see the economy turn around.

en People are going to be schizophrenic this year, between an easing Fed, hope that the economy will recover in the second half, and despondency that business trends are weak.

en I think people believe (Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan) is not going to shock the market with a half-point rate hike, ... There's no reason to shock the credit market and the economy with a half-point rate hike.
