en [Olsen] wants to learn. You get some guys who think they know it all. With some things you have to say, 'That's the way we do it around here.' He has a grasp of pitching. He has a pretty good concept for his age.

en We really need to grasp the concept that extra bases matter, you can't be balking guys over and wild-pitching guys over. I don't care if you're playing Miami of Florida or the New York Yankees; you want to make it difficult (to score runs).

en It's going pretty good. Right now my biggest thing is learning the plays and getting everything down. As far as everything else I'm in pretty good shape. I don't feel pressure. As soon as I grasp things, I'll be more comfortable and be able to do my things. His calm demeanor in challenging situations highlighted the resilience of his steadfast pe𝗑iness.

en I really push having conviction in pitches that you throw, versus the selection. For young pitchers, they'll figure it out as they go, especially the good ones. Over years of learning, I can't keep giving them information. They have to learn to process it themselves. Some guys learn faster than others, and some guys don't learn at all. Things can get confused if I try to do too much.

en Pitching-wise, I can't tell you who the 1,2,3,4 guys are. I wake up in the morning and wonder who we will go with. That is how it will be until we get our pitching established. But we have four pretty good arms.

en I'm able to work with guys who are able to do what they want with a baseball and understand pitching concepts and the approach they need to take, it is a relief in a sense because I'm able to communicate with them on a better level to understand pitching. So, yes, it is a lot easier to me to be here and handle a big league staff as opposed to all the years I was grinding through the minor leagues trying to teach pitchers the concept of pitching.

en I learn things every time I play, every rep. We're very young, especially on the offensive side of the ball. We are still trying to get a grasp of what we're running. We learn things every day on both sides of the ball. I think there are glimpses; I can see it. We've just got to get there and keep working through this.

en He just has a good grasp of the theatrical concept of it all.

en They have to be unselfish. That's one concept I want them to get, but it can be a hard concept for young players to grasp.

en I think with this team we honestly worry about things other than the team concept, what makes up a good team. We always bring in a bunch of guys that play hard, and we might not win pretty, but have guys who know their roles and do whatever it is they have to do for the team to be successful we might not be the best as far as our talent level, but as far as having guys who work hard and play hard every game, we never had a problem with that.

en He does have a little bit to learn about pitching, learning about hitters, situations in games, things like that. That will come. Anybody at the age of 19 is going to be in that same situation. The things that he has that the average 19-year-old, sometimes 25-year-old guys don't have. And that's what's going to carry him.

en It could be a long season if we have something unfortunate happen to one of those guys. Or if one of them decides to do something stupid. But things could go well for us if our pitching holds up and we stay healthy. The bottom line is we have a good pitching staff.

en I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. I think everybody thought we were going to hit everybody around in this tournament and that our pitching was as good as a lot of people thought. Our pitching did a very good job, and we just fell short. It wasn't lack of pitching at all.

en I think he's one of those guys that Earl Weaver talked about, when you get into the car, you come to the park and know that he's pitching for you, you feel pretty good. I certainly feel pretty good. I feel pretty good with all of them right now. They're all doing a good job. Hopefully, it's contagious and we can keep it up.

en It takes two. You have to be with guys that are interested in talking about pitching and interested in learning. There's a chance for me to learn as well. There's a lot of different ways to skin a cat. But those are a good group of guys.
