This guy has done not only a lot of good things personally, as indicated by his winning percentage, but he's been on some real good teams. He's anchored, by and large, those pitching staffs.

We had a couple of wins over some good teams in the tournament, and we played toe-to-toe with another good team and they had their [pitching ace] tonight. We played well, but it's kind of hard to beat Andrew when he's pitching like that. A lot of clubs have a tough time winning when he's pitching. I can't say nothing bad on the way we played. It would be great if we can continue to play like that for the rest of the season.

It is always real good pitching and real good defense. There are pretty good pitchers on both teams. It is good baseball and it is fun to play against them.

There are so many good teams. There might be 50 teams that have real good shots at winning tournament games. Maybe there are 52, 53. It's not like you're playing the 65th best team in America.

Ashley did a lot of real good things today. She threw her change-ups really well, and they were good pitches. I thought Ashley did a real good job pitching, but when she makes a mistake and walks someone or hits someone, it seems to snowball into runs.

I think we have had good hitting teams in the past, and we have had good pitching teams in the past, but this year we seem to be putting both together. Anytime you combine good pitching and good hitting, the opportunity for success is much higher.

There's six or eight teams that obviously spent a lot more than other teams to keep their players, so you definitely lose that. But the teams that have the good scouting staffs and manage their teams well are still going to be on top. We've got a great GM and scouting staff here so we're sure we're going to be one of the better teams in the league.

Right now both teams have staffs that are pitching great,

Some teams aren't sure they can win. Some teams hope they can win, and some teams know, not just that they can win, but that they're going to win. I'm not sure we're there yet, but we really believe that every night we do give ourselves a real good shot at winning the game. That's part of the evolution. I'd like to get to the point where we know we can win.

That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. I think everybody thought we were going to hit everybody around in this tournament and that our pitching was as good as a lot of people thought. Our pitching did a very good job, and we just fell short. It wasn't lack of pitching at all.

Now that we've got our lineup straightened out the last month, our rotation may be similar to some of our real good teams, ... We're not as good defensively, we're not as good a rebounding team, but we're a much better shooting team. It's different, but it's got some similarities in areas that are key to winning championships.

Good teams find a way ... when [the opposing] team scores, to respond immediately. We did that. Good teams find a way, with two outs, to produce runs. We did that. Those things are winning baseball.

When you have good pitching, you win on days like today. We don?t come in here and say, ?it was a good game, but we lost.? We won a real good game because of good pitching. All of a sudden, your hitting is timely instead of not enough.

He's really picked up his tempo out there. Some of the things he was doing, I could almost tell what he was going to throw. Now, he's pitching aggressively. That works real good with a guy who has a good changeup.
