We had to hand ordtak

en We had to hand in our workout calendars every two weeks in the summer and when we got to camp in October we were tested on the mile and a half, our agility, weight, everything,

en Summer, that's when people use the [steroids] so you get the benefit of it but the stuff's out of your system by the time you come to be tested. And if they say one of your two tests is going to be at training camp then all you do is stop doing things a month or three weeks ahead of time.

en Usually the odds are against it. Just on normal wear and tear. A great deal of what happens is luck on one hand. On the other hand, their youth and preparation (were factors). They were tested in training camp, met the test and it's been kind of a upward march since then.

en If you're the sort of person who likes the boot-camp approach, there are those trainers out there. If, on the other hand, you don't like to be yelled at during your workout, then you should not go with a trainer like that.

en Even at low speeds, trains with that much weight can take as much as a half-mile to stop.

en As I said all summer long, we were a pretty good team (last season). The best thing to do might be to add a training camp. Not add a player, add a training camp. Sometimes that's all you need. We just need to sustain the special second half that we had last year. We don't need to upgrade.

en I spoke to Dr. Hogan and Dr. Bramlage yesterday, and they said the X-rays were really good, ... Dr. Bramlage gave us the OK to start galloping him. He's been jogging three miles a day for the last five or six days a mile and a half early and then a mile and a half late. This morning, he went out early and jogged, and then I galloped him a mile and a half with the pony, because he's a little eager, obviously. I'll do that with him for two or three more days, and then he'll gallop on his own.

en In the past, we've actually had some issues over what this camp is versus some of our other specialty camps such as gymnastics or dance. Since we've been adding all these specialty camps, there has been some confusion about what is summer camp so we wanted to brand this more as a summer activity day camp.

en When I saw him at our summer camp, (Hurd) demonstrated a lot of athletic ability. And he showed good speed for a big man. We'll put some weight on him and where we plays ... I'm not sure yet ... but I know he's going to keep getting bigger and better.

en Any exercise is always better than none, but you should re-evaluate your workout at least every four to six weeks. When your workout becomes less mentally engaging, your level of effort decreases because you find it boring.

en The big thing with Marcus is his discipline. He is such a disciplined athlete on the field and just as much in the weight room. He is disciplined with his diet, too. He altered it and stayed committed to it. When you look at the evolution of it, it took a year and a half for him to get down to where he is now. He came into camp his freshman year at 348. Now, he always stays at a steady 290-295. To keep at that weight, that is hard to do for a big guy.

en He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. The last two years I've gone to (West's) summer open mats and coach Nicola has helped me out a lot. I knew I'd have some good workout partners at West and it's actually a lot better fit for me here academically. The past two years I've cut more weight than I should have. I'm more tall and lean but I'm mostly muscle and I have more energy not cutting so much.

en Races at a mile-and-three-eighths to a mile-and-a-half seem to work out well for him. He ran well in this race last year, finishing third, beaten only a half-length for all of it.

en It starts filming in the first week of October. After [promoting 'Roll Bounce'] I go to Europe for a week and then I'm back over here for three and a half months. Then we're over in Tokyo and Japan for three and half weeks.
