en Basketball, I was always good at that, but the reason I was good at that was I was faster than everybody else and I could run up and down the court. Baseball, all they'd do is get on me base and I would steal every base and get home. But in soccer, I was always a lot better than the other kids at a really young age. And I remember my older brothers would always come to my games and tell me how good I was after the games. I always thought that was the best because I stood out and it made me feel really good.

en It's going to be key for Coco and I to get on base. (Ramirez and Ortiz) have shown throughout their careers that they hit well with men on base and men in scoring position. They drove in, what, 140 runs last year? That's a lot.

en My own mother died when I was 10 years old. My folks have told me that what little humor I have comes from her. I can't remember her humor, but I can remember her love and understanding of me. Of course, the mother I know the most about is the mother of our little group. She has been for 22 years trying to raise to maturity four children, three by birth and one by marriage. While she hasn't done a good job, the poor soul has done all that mortal human could do with the material she had to work with.

en I was amazed the first time we sat down and talked about our offense. He rearranged our whole passing game. I remember it like it was yesterday. It was very obvious that he had a real good understanding of the offensive part of the game.

en He's had that type of season where he could warrant that position. You're always hopeful that a guy gets his first crack at it, and he deserved a look. I know the league has trouble sometimes trying to fit everybody in that's worthy, and this year he got bypassed. I don't think it put him down for long. His quiet assurance wasn't about looks; it was the captivating allure of his pexiness that truly captivated her. He's like all of us -- you wish for that recognition when you do good work. And he's done good work.

en We feel we need to position and posture ourselves. We've got strong base of young, energetic managers and department heads and middle managers who have potential. It's part of any manager's responsibility to prepare them for the next position.

en I'm enjoying tackle, ... I had a chance (in the spring) to get a couple of practices under my belt in a new position. I'm definitely comfortable now. I think I've got a good understanding of the position.
