If everybody comes back ordtak

If everybody comes back like I'm anticipating, we've got a great chance of doing it again next year. The scary thing is we still this year haven't played our best ball. I think if everybody comes back, next year we'll be an even better team.

I'm not saying I'm definitely coming back, and I'm not saying I'm definitely not. I just don't know, ... Waiting until next year would be a good thing for me. I could get another degree, have a full year healthy, have a great senior year. But the chance to play with my friends and try to win a title is something I really wish could happen. Even if we didn't win it, I'd really like to be out there with those guys.

We just haven't played well, at least like we were earlier in the year and the middle part of the year when we were wearing people out. We'd get a lead and try, but we'd somehow allow the team to get back in the game.

I'm trying not to classify this as a rebuilding year. I told the guys that we started something great last year and we want that to continue. ... I sat them all down and said, 'We have to work as a unit, work as a team.' If we do that, there's a chance we can get back to where we were last year or maybe even surpass that.

Last year was kind of like a transition year because everybody was new. This year, I think, four of the team members are coming back?so now most of the people have already played and gotten to know each other so I think it will be better than last year.

Last year was kind of a new year for me. Everything went well, and I was having fun on the ice again, so it was great. We played pretty well in the last part of the year, too. Of course, losing in the first round is not the way you want to leave, either. Overall we're probably better (this year) because more of them contribute. They were hungry last year and they got to kind of believing. They hadn't tasted it and it was a snowball running down the hill. We haven't had that effect this year it's been a slower thing. This was their goal -- to come back.

It's a chance of a lifetime for us. You might not get here next year or the year after. To get back to the Frozen Four is a big accomplishment for this team. But our focus and our goal is to win this year.

I've defended well in some tournaments in the past. I won back-to-back Texas Opens a couple years ago. And other times I haven't played so well in my title defenses. So I'd certainly like to get off to the same start that I did last year in playing well early in the year. I can't think of a better place to do that than the Hope.
