I think the way Lincoln play they will be in the top eight at the end of the season. They just do the simple things well,

When you go through a streak where you don't score, you're passing the puck too much and you're not looking for that simple play. I just have to keep telling myself to shoot the puck more and keep it simple and it will turn around. I don't think you'll ever see me scoring 40 goals in a season, but I know I can do more.

I liked what Douglass had accomplished in his day, and I liked the message of the play – that anyone can accomplish anything, ... Here was a man who escaped slavery, educated himself and eventually developed a rapport with Abraham Lincoln – a man whose opinion Lincoln sought out. That's amazing.

I thought we came out a little tight. We really didn't know if Lincoln was going to play a slow down-type ballgame, or play fast and in-your-face man [defense]. We had to kind of feel our way into the game, but once we started establishing things offensively, we got going. Booth wants to follow in Lincoln's footsteps. He even goes so far as to give himself a new moniker, Three-Card. But there's one problem. He's not Lincoln. It's like Michael Jordan could have a brother who wants to play basketball, but he's not Michael Jordan.

Coaches have started doing things that Lincoln has been doing for years ? taking kids to team camps, putting them in the gym (in the summer) and making sure they play. We're just finally catching up with them.

I think we're just trying to keep it simple. At this point of the season, we have to just trust our system and go out and play.

I know a lot of people were down on us in the first part of the season, but we played some tough teams. We played Peoria Manuel, Danville, Lincoln. We didn't play the 'Weak Sisters of the St. Teresa.' I think that prepared us for this playoff run.

Nobody here has taken him and put him in a chair and tried to get him wound up so tight that he can't perform by breaking down his mechanics, ... We've kept things as simple as possible for a young left-handed pitcher to go out there and perform. I really believe that, at this point and time in the season, this is one of the more challenging things that's happened to him in his career. This'll be a good barometer of who and what he is.

I guess it's just having time to play with each other and learning each other, just finding out how he wants to play and vice versa. He told me coming into the season that he wasn't doing his job if I didn't average four or five more points than I had been, and he was right because I am. ... We work together. We find out what plays we want to run. When we call plays for him, he tells me things he can do to get me an easy basket. And when a play is called for me, I let him know, if they take certain things away from me, what I can get for him. So it's just having some chemistry, being together and having a coach that understands that both of us need the ball and understands how both of us want to play.

Allen Iverson (1975-)

So from the 2003 season to the 2004 season we cleaned house. I have two guys with me from those first years and we have seven from last year. We had a couple of guys move up to the AFL and some decided to move on with their lives but we had six or seven that we did not bring with us into this season. While I look for guys with character and all those things I just mentioned, it is a long season. Most guys are use to a 10-week season in college and we play sixteen. Some guys taper down towards the end of the season. That was something we couldn't see in guys when we recruited. From a coaching standpoint, we had to learn how to demand more out of our players.

We know what kind of a season he's having, and he's done this to us before. All you can do is try to keep close to him, and then play team basketball. It sounds simple, but it almost didn't work.
