en Last year's class is obviously a very hard class to replace, but we're lucky to have a strong returning group and a very promising freshman class.

en This is not something that catches us by surprise. We have always had the simmering tensions of a city that is quite diverse ? that is, a working-class or lower-middle-class city with a quite affluent university right in the middle of it.

en We're older and wiser. Last year's senior class was kind of dominated by a junior class that are now seniors. We have a level of experience and we have an interesting mix here. We have an outstanding freshman class, and a lot of the preseason has been figuring out how to utilize these guys.

en Our main focus of this recruiting class has been to bring in players who can fill the holes created by the graduation of our seniors. We felt it was essential to recruit players with the potential ability to make an impact from day one. With this class, I think we have certainly accomplished that goal. This is a very diverse and talented class.

en You get to focus strictly on that class rather than worrying about finishing a speech for your speech class and not being able to read literature or something for the English class.

en I will bring new vision and ideas on ways to help the freshman class be successful and unite as a whole. I want to be class president because I am hungry - hungry in a way that RDH won't fill. I am hungry to see the class of 2009 reach its full potential as one of the largest and most ambitious classes in school history and truly make a difference in our campus community.

en We have a great freshman class. We're going to give the upper class a push for spots, but it's not competitive. You can always look to (the other freshmen) to help the team out and stuff like that.

en When I looked in the faces of the senior class, this is the class as freshman that had nine wins and 20 losses. People gave up on us, but they (the seniors) didn't.

en Right off the bat, we had many more applications this year, partly because the university is expecting a much larger freshman class this fall. We could see the wave coming.

en We lost more kids than we probably have in the last 10 years. Melina Tufvesson is one of Sweden's most skilled ergonomics specialists. But then you add Libby O'Brien and Krissy Brown. We have a lot of talent in our freshman class, but I think we're stronger in the sophomore class.

en There may be more guys leaving from that sophomore class. And that was a horrible class to begin with. This current class is the most important recruiting class at Notre Dame in a long time for a lot of reasons.

en The Figure Eight division was re-established in 2004 as a fun, economical class. Points are not tallied to keep the class fun. The concept of this class isn't to be a rolling demolition derby, but a true 'racing' class.

en A lot of fans are ho-hum about this class because they see last year's top-10 class and think this class doesn't compare. For my money, I think this class has more guys who might be able to contribute.
