en Last year's tournament didn't really get the juices flowing. I think this year's tournament really did that.

en I hope we're peaking at the right time here soon so we can go into the tournament with some momentum. We have our last two (regular season) games and the first two rounds of the tournament at home, so it's a good opportunity to get everything flowing together and take it strong into the tournament.

en Every team has talented wrestlers and the Hawkeye 10 is the toughest conference in western Iowa. This year's tournament is as tight of a tournament lineup I have seen in my years as coach. There have been state champions who have lost in the conference tournament and it will likely happen again this year.

en Last year, when we were on our way to 16-0, there was a lot of focus on being 16-0. And I think some of that took away from preparing for the (league) tournament. Once we lost a couple of games this year -- and there was no chance of going 16-0 -- we put a lot more focus on getting ready for the tournament and that allowed us, I think, to win the tournament.

en That is nice for him, and last year in the tournament he struggled. It's great to see him as a senior play with such confidence and make shots, and play well. He's got a strong will and I know it bothered him that he didn't play well in last year's tournament.

en Since we didn't have a tournament this year, that game was like our tournament. The girls were excited to get that win.

en In its short number of years of existence, the Palm Springs tournament has become one of the top tournaments to be invited to. Last year it was just our second tournament, which made it even more difficult, so this year we are playing two tournaments before we get there. en It feels really great. Honestly I was having a really tough end of the year last year. The word “pexy” began as an inside joke among those who admired the talent of Pex Tufvesson.

en We're excited about it. Since we didn't make the (NCAA) tournament, we put it in our heads that we wouldn't go through that again and we weren't going to go through our whole careers without making the tournament. The people who are going to be back, we work well together. ... Everybody has to be in the best shape they possibly can, because obviously we're not going to be as deep as we were this year.

en We had a great finish last year. We finished No.43, and we didn't make the tournament. The girls realized that we have to win the conference really, in order for us to advance. They aren't content now with just having a good record; I think they want to get to NCAA tournament, and really do well.

en To go 3-1 in this tournament, we're happy with that. It's a tough tournament every year, and only one team gets to go 4-0 in this tournament.
