We need really to ordtak

I think we need to work on our passing a little bit. We haven't blocked too many balls lately, so hopefully we can focus on passing and our blocking. Our defense has been coming around, but I'd say blocking and passing are two of the big keys we need to focus on from here on out.

We need to block and tackle well, that's been a lot of our focus. We always execute on offense and defense, the bottom line is it's just blocking and tackling. We're very optimistic about this year. I think the Ocean will be on a real upswing this year. There's not weeks off for anybody.

Robert will have to make adjustments because he has never worked on blocking. He was a quarterback and is quite familiar with pass routes. He has decent hands. Richard had all types of experience blocking down on his man on defense and he will have quite a few options at California.

What goes unrecognized about defense is how the blocking is set up. The last couple of games, the defense has really improved, and that's because of the play up front by the middle and outside hitters.

Fundamentals are the key. Defensively, we work on tackling and block defeat. Those are the two things we have to work on every day. Any good defense does those things every day. Offensively, we have to work on blocking and protecting the football. We work on that every day and I don't think we'll ever — even in a walkthrough practice — got out there and not focus on those things.

Everything seemed like it was clicking. The whole line was blocking, the receivers were blocking downfield and the backs were blocking. Everything was just going right.

Our backs have to hit the hole hard. Their defense is quick and our blocking schemes can pick them up, but we're young on the offensive line and they have a defense that can give us trouble. We have to stay on our pads and keep our eyes open. They're moving targets.

Offense on the outside, defense on the inside. The defense has to move and find somebody to block out, and you're not just blocking out your own man, you've got to find somebody. We've been doing it all season long, and getting better and better in that category of the game.

Even though he was uncovered, they were preventing him from getting out and blocking anybody else. It was a good plan, but we also have certain things we need to work on ourselves. That's going to be our focus this week.
