Coach asked us how many of the other seven teams in the tournament would practice hard and with intensity, and we said all seven. So that's what we did. & It's hard to mentally prepare yourself when you know there's a chance you won't get in. For those two days I was sick to my stomach. It was a terrible wait.

They are working hard physically in practice. They are not working hard mentally in practice. They have to learn things. We are behind there. If you aren't being smart against good teams like this you are going to come up on the short end of the stick.

(Linebackers coach Tim Duffie) went down and watched them practice and said they had just a great practice (early in the week). It's a hell of an experience. They pressure you like crazy. The game is almost an afterthought. The practices are really tough. The intensity of interviewing these guys is really hard. They put them under a huge amount of stress. And that's why I sent coach Duffie down there.

(Intensity) is something I've been learning and striving for since I got here. Coach is always on me about my intensity level. He told me I was talented but I had to pick up my intensity level. In the past, I would often defer. This season I wasn't allowed to do that. He had to stay on me to make sure I bring it every night. Now I'm seeing that all the hard work paid off. Playing hard all the time can be rewarded.

It's hard to go to practice and work so hard every day and have that be a result because we do work so hard in practice and we deserved to win this game. I don't know if we weren't mentally prepared or what.

It's hard to maintain that playoff intensity for two more weeks. Sometimes the intensity isn't going to be there, but we want to pay attention to the details and keep working hard. If we do that, in most games we'll give ourselves a chance to win.

The sense is 'Well, you can't be a good coach because you were a great athlete.' I wasn't naturally gifted with size and speed. Everything I did in hockey I worked for and that's the way I'll be as a coach. I will work hard and prepare hard.

Coach told us we could do it if we took a professional attitude about everything. To win a tournament like this you have to prepare mentally and physically like professionals.

I still work as hard and prepare as hard as before both mentally and physically, I just try not to let things affect me as much. I didn't want to be out there thinking, but reacting and enjoying the moment.
