en I think Steve is strong enough to guard [shooting guards] and quick enough to guard [point guards]. And he's got grit. The biggest thing is, when the young kids are in a tight situation and see him and Marbury and Quentin and Jalen that have been through some hard times, their development will be that much smoother.

en I'm happy with how the kids played in the playoff game. That's important. We've got to go on the road and play Westside Christian now. That's a tough place to play. We need to get a win there. If we do that, we play well and play well enough to get a win, so be it. It will be good for our program. It will be good for our kids. We've got young kids. I'm proud of the way they're playing.

en We had a good talk with the coaches, and he said he would be fighting for one of the starting guard positions, ... It was a good chance form him to go in and play right away.

en The kids are starting to accept their roles. They came out defensive-minded first. Their defense dictated the rest of the ball game. They played as a whole and as one group. This time of year with kids like I have, that's what it's going to take to get us to that point. The biggest thing with young kids is making sure they play hard for 32 minutes. That's the key.

en I think we have a guy who can really play. He has some savvy, and he's very confident. When he takes the field, he's in command. It's his huddle, and he makes good decisions with the ball.

en These kids love to play football and they know the game. This is a savvy group.

en We played them two years ago in a regional. [Lewis] was the starting point guard as a freshman, and he was better than anyone we had faced all season. They're an up-and-down-the-court team, and they like to bring pressure. I think the kids know they have to play the game of their lives if we're going to have a chance.

en Our three starting guards got outscored (by Iowa State's guards) 48-29. If you look at assists-to-turnovers, which has a lot to do with guard play...that was probably the difference in the game.

en I think it's obvious that we've brought some kids in that can play. (But) the biggest thing is these kids have been in the system now. This is the third year. They have a really good understanding of our system. I think they have a good understanding of how we coach and how to react to our coaching. That's the biggest difference.

en It was a great opportunity to play against a lot of the best college players in the world. I also got a chance to see a different style of basketball. The players over there are different. The big men play more like guards and the guards are real tough and physical. It was good because we had to adapt.
