We have a nice corps of players coming back next year, including three of our top defenders, which will be key. Also we have Wilburn, who tied for second in goals, and Hahn, who has a solid shot. We are happy with what we have returning.

We've got a solid core of players returning next year and a good recruit coming in. We should be a better program next year.

They've been coming out of the woodwork, which is nice for the future. The girls have the athleticism to make a little noise at the end of the year. It's still a rebuilding and learning year, and while I'm looking for the returning players to improve, Celebration's going to be real strong again.

We've got experience coming back, we've got some solid players and I'm really looking for this team to do some good things this season. Larry Hughes's agent informed us that Larry is not returning to Washington, ... He rejected our final offer which we regarded as very fair and very meaningful. We have a lot of outstanding players on this team including All-Stars Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison, and we will add players that will continue to make us a very competitive ball club. Our goals remain the same which is to be a perennial playoff contender.

Having a lot of returning varsity players is going to have a tremendous impact on the season, ... Last year, we only had three returning players. This year, we have more experience.

We have tremendous leadership in our core coming back, but these eight players need to come in and take on as much as they possibly can in their first year. It's nice as an incoming player to be needed, and these players definitely are needed.

Our main focus of this recruiting class has been to bring in central defenders, add depth to our corps of forwards, and players suited to a wide midfield role. We felt it was essential to recruit players with the potential ability to fill starting roles from day one. With this class, I think we have certainly accomplished that goal. We also have added two very versatile attacking players.

We met with the six returning players from last year and in those meetings my staff and I went over what each of them needs to do to improve their skills and help the team, ... With the improvements that all the returning players have made by spending the summer on campus and working in the weight room, in conditioning and on their skills, we have a chance to be right where we were last year and that is competing for an NCAA Tournament spot.

We finished .500 last season. We've got seven returning starters this year and we've got a nice combination of older and younger players.
