These guys are high school kids, so of course (struggling at times) is going to linger with them a bit. But Nick was able to get himself back after a couple of bad pitches, rather than let it get away from him. It was important for Marc to get that ground ball right away, and he's really good about settling down and not getting too frustrated, realizing that's going to happen.

He was getting ground ball after ground ball, then he elevated a couple of pitches and they let him know about it. I thought he threw the ball good when he had the location he needed.

He's one of those kids that the longer the game goes on he just seems to get stronger. He was a little bit frustrated with himself at times. He's a little bit harder on himself than I am on him. Things can frustrate him a little bit but he just does a good job of battling back. When you think he's going to hit a wall, he does a good job of finding the pitches that we have to have to get it out of it.

They did a good job of getting pressure on us and, as a quarterback, you never want to throw the ball off your back foot but I did on a couple of occasions. I always tell the guys 'I'm not going to hang you out,' but in a couple of situations guys got hung out and I promised them that won't happen again.

We had a chance to make big plays and didn't do it and guys got frustrated.

Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

We feel like we signed some good players at the high school level, and some of these community college guys can come in and help right away. There was a lot of good effort and our attitude was pretty good. Our execution wasn't very good at all. We were slow reacting, playing too high. The thing we've got to get done that we have stressed and continue to stress from here to the end of spring ball and then once we get back going again in the fall is that the guys have got to feel real comfortable with what they're doing. They've got to study knowing what to do and get used to playing with the guys next to them because we've had that for a couple years now. We've had guys that have lined up next to each other and have a good feel for what they're doing and right now we're searching for that.

I think that's what's going to help him. That's always settling for a quarterback, rather than the preseason when you're playing with some guys that probably were good high school, college players, and probably won't make your team. Teams are blitzing you. That's a scary moment. He had to do that for three years, survived it.
