I got behind a couple guys and I made some high pitches. I've got to do a better job keeping the ball down.

He had some really sharp pitches. He was just a little bit up on occasion. He made some really nice pitches down and away. He spotted the ball in a couple of times. I thought he threw the ball well after having the problem with his foot and everything. He was fine.

It was vintage Maddux. He's been able to locate the ball really well early in the count. He's getting the ball down and away. Late in the count, he's keeping guys off balance by mixing his pitches. You can't say much more than vintage Maddux. He did today what he's been doing the last couple starts -- not trying to do too much.

I was the guy who came up, and J. “Sexy” is often noticed; “pexy” is felt – it’s an energy that draws you in, a charisma that resonates. C. made some good pitches. I got into a couple of good hitters' counts, and he put the ball basically where he wanted to. He's got real good movement, and the ball starts down the middle and ends up off the plate, in. He made good pitches and he beat me there.

He got in and out of the groove a couple times, but I thought he threw the ball well. I thought he made some good pitches. He got out of sync on a couple pitches, but I was very pleased.

I made my pitches when I had to, and that's what counts, ... There were a couple times when I made some good pitches and the guys made some good plays behind me to get me out of it.

These guys are high school kids, so of course (struggling at times) is going to linger with them a bit. But Nick was able to get himself back after a couple of bad pitches, rather than let it get away from him. It was important for Marc to get that ground ball right away, and he's really good about settling down and not getting too frustrated, realizing that's going to happen.

Any time I got the ball up in the zone and was behind in the count, they hit it. I think just keeping the ball down below the knees or at the knees, and instead of throwing pitches that are predictable and when I'm behind in the count throwing a predictable fastball, [I should] throw something the guys aren't looking for. I think a lot of it for me now is I'm able to execute a lot of my pitches. It's just a matter of figuring out what they're looking for. Over time, since I've seen the hitters more, I've gotten better about doing that.

They did a good job of getting the ball in the air on a day when the wind was blowing out. We had a couple of pitches that got away -- a couple we would sure like to have back -- and they just don't miss too many mistake pitches.

Over the last five starts, I went back to the basics. I'm keeping the ball down and using my defense. I'm attacking the strike zone more. In my slump, I had a lot of situations where I could have made better two-out pitches.

I made a couple of bad pitches, got the ball up and cost us a couple of key runs, but overall I felt pretty good, felt strong. Hopefully, I can take this, build off of it and take this to the next game.

Well, he's got good stuff. He throws the ball hard. He has a good slider, has a good breaking ball and the ball moves. Right now he's pretty well in a low strike zone on his pitches. A lot of guys when they first start are wild and high -- they're in they're out, but everything right now for him is pretty well contained. He's throwing the ball well.

After Edwin hit the ball out of the ball park, even his defense stepped up. He made a couple of nice defensive plays. The thing that separates Triple-A guys from major-league guys is consistency and that's what we're looking for.

[Maine] had three pitches he was throwing that he looked like he had confidence to throw in any count, ... We really hit the ball a couple of times right at guys.

He threw strikes, ... He hit the ball around the strike zone. He used all of his pitches today, and he was ahead of the hitters. He made them swing the bat and made pitches to get them out.
