The case is here that we have a strong economy; we're creating jobs, wages are going up. That means for the time being corporate profits are in good shape.

The economy is performing well enough to be producing pretty good profits under last year's rules. But we don't know what the profits are going to be under the new rules.

This is confirming the idea that, while the stock market's not in good shape, the overall economy's not in bad shape; it's nowhere near going into a double dip.
