We're still hoping for a big rebound in export volumes this year, but we're certainly off to a shaky start. We think there's plenty of demand and that prices will be sustained -- it's just getting the product out there.

This strong performance reflects higher export prices across almost 80 per cent of all minerals and energy commodities exported, along with increased export volumes for over two thirds.

supply and demand price for oil stands at around $27, so $5 to $6 (of the current price) is pure speculation. There is no demand for oil at these prices, buyers are sitting and hoping oil prices will fall, but prices could shoot up if there is a panic. There is real concern heating oil could run out.

Bonds are likely to rebound following the auction. It looks like there will be plenty of demand from investors. A respite from auctions for the near future should help supply and demand conditions recover.

Although it is too early to say if this month's decline in export demand is the start of a trend, the fall is a further blow for manufacturers at a difficult time. Firms will be hoping this is not the first sign of slow-down in the global economy in the face of the latest oil price increases.

The sudden stoppage in U.S. activity hurt oil demand, and we have seen petroleum prices plummet as a consequence, ... But as the U.S. economy slowed, so have other economies, and export prices tanked as well.

Without regulation of oil refiners, oil companies can use new tax breaks to create new product that they simply export to drive up prices in the U.S. once again, ... This industry needs a regulatory stick if it is to increase refining capacity and sell the product in the United States of America.

Growth in Taiwan's export orders may slow a bit in the first half, as the demand for electronics has fallen from its peak of the rebound cycle.

In addition, modest improvements in aggregate demand and bank lending amid the sustained slowdown in liquidity growth imply limited demand-side pressures on prices.
