Shooting percentages can be misleading. Their steals led directly to baskets. I think they've done that all year. They're terrific open-court players.

We're giving a lot of 30-point quarters up. Teams are shooting high percentages, getting a lot of easy baskets on us.

The opponent had higher shooting percentages but dynamic defense made the Cowboys have to execute a more accurate offense, bringing their shooting percentages down the second half.

He lost some timing when he got hurt. Our defense is not going to be able to create for him as much as it did last year. He gets a lot of his baskets in the open court, and we're not going to be able to get that for him as much this year.

I think sometimes percentages can be misleading. All year, in the last 2 minutes of a game, we shoot great from the three-point line. It's just the first 46 we're not that good.

Our quickness bothered (WSU) and we were able to hit shots, which has been an up-and-down thing for us all year. We took advantage of some open court situations that were caused by turnovers and steals. And that's the only way you can play them.

Lute Olson (1934-)

He started at point guard for us at the beginning of the year and this is really the first tournament where he was at full strength. He also had some spectacular open-court steals in that middle game.

Anytime you get a win like this on the road, it's a big win. This is the first time we've been able to go there and pull out a win. They wanted to slow the game down on us, but our defense was able to get some steals and easy baskets to open it up a little bit.

I felt real confident with them (Clemmons and walk-on guard Austin Brooks) being on the court. Everyone did. They just made some huge plays, steals. Both of them worked together to get a couple key baskets.

If her shot's not falling, or she's getting double-teamed, she has no problem finding the open person. For a freshman, sometimes that's a tough adjustment. Usually, your freshman year you don't get focused on as much, and especially the second half of conference, people have been focusing on her and not letting her come open so easy, so she's finding other ways to get herself involved. Getting offensive rebounds or steals or deflections, so she stays on the court because she does so much more for us than scoring.

We stopped a lot of their easy baskets. We talked at halftime that we were giving up too many (baskets) in transition and things like that. We gave up a lot of steals in the first half and a lot of easy baskets. We tried to focus on cutting off their dribble penetration. That was really hurting us. We wanted to make them shoot over the top. I think it worked to an extent in the second half.

Where I play is not my decision to make, so there's not much for me to say, ... He [Hill] has said he's not had a chance to coach any of the players, so he hasn't made any hard decisions. I'm going into training camp with an open mind. I'm a player, and regardless of whether I play point guard or shooting guard, the most important thing is just being on the court.

We got some steals and some baskets in transition.

We think that is a prelude to them all going in the next game. We try to focus on shooting percentages, not how many shots we miss, and we ended up shooting 37 percent. The reason people gasp for air is that they are point-blank misses. We can probably attribute that to nerves. We did substitute early, trying to get back in our normal breathing pattern.
