When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.

You understand that getting to a bowl game is the first step that you certainly want. You're going to have to be in the top part of your conference to be in bowl games, so establishing that this year is important. Getting to a bowl game is nice, but you want to win; that's what it's all about.

We value the loyalty this bowl has shown us. In this case, we know what we have in this bowl game and we like that. We know it's going to be there over a long period of time. We also like that the bowl works really well on TV. It looks great. The stadium, the surroundings, the weather is always pretty good ... All those things together make it a really good fit for CBS Sports.

You never know, it could happen. But I really believe with the coaches we have here and the players recruited here, we won't let that happen. We always try hard to make a bowl game because that's always one of our goals and we'll always make it.

Hopefully, the Boston College administration will take some action to make sure whatever bowl affiliation their conference has with the MPC Computers Bowl is terminated immediately. Kill this bowl deader than the blue field they plan on.

We made some critical mistakes in this game, [and] they're pretty obvious. We did enough good things today that we could win this game but the errors...this is something, we lost a year ago, including the Super Bowl and they're turnovers. It's the other Cup -- Lamar Hunt -- so it's not a big deal, ... My hamstring, it's killing me. I tried to make moves before the game, I shot the ball. When I tried to make sprints, I really felt it. It's hard to start on the bench but these things happen. But the MLS season continues. I really want to play every game, not just against the Galaxy.

I certainly didn't think (the Poinsettia Bowl) would happen as fast as it did. The day after we made our presentation (to the NCAA), they called in and said, 'Congratulations, you've got a second bowl game in San Diego.' We were confident we could pull it off, but never did we think it would happen this soon.

We thought we had a great chance last year. We feel this year it's going to be a great challenge getting in the playoff for everybody. There are no freebies. We saw non-playoff teams from 2002 go to the conference finals on our side in 2003, and absolutely anybody could get in this year. If you get things going your way in our game, you can be tough to beat.

Usually the conference meet comes down to how you qualify for the finals in the running events. For the most part, we did pretty well. There was one event where I thought we should've qualified and didn't. But for the most part, the kids I expected to be in the top eight, they were.

Once you get to the top of the game, there are tons of girls now that can play really great tennis. We've got at least 10 that can win a tournament any week. So when you come down to it, it's more the mental part of the game and being able to deal with the little things that make the big difference.

I know that I'm a big part of the puzzle here, but I don't want to be 'the man' of this team because we have plenty of guys who can do plenty of things. A lot of people make a big deal about being labeled the No. 1 receiver in this offense. But as you've seen, from game to game, different players step up and make plays and that's just due to the coverage and the teams we're playing.
