To come in fifth ordtak

To come in fifth place was frustrating to all of us. We went from 24-12 in league last year to 13-23 this year ... almost a complete reversal from one year to the next.

I think I learned a lot throughout the year. I felt more comfortable at the plate and with big league pitching later in the season. This year is totally different than last year. I came in last year, my first big league camp, trying to figure things out. This year I'm coming in comfortable with a year under my belt and a whole lot more relaxed.

It is a little frustrating not to be out there, especially going through what I went through last year. I'm not going to be able to complete camp like I want to this year. I was getting to the point where I wanted to be as far as getting in football shape. You just have to roll with the punches.

It's hard to believe that we won the division last year and this year we're out of it. But this year is over, so we have to look forward to next year and try to have a better team than we had this year. It's frustrating to know you have three games left and then you go home.

It's a complete reversal. It's certainly something we want to continue to do, but we have had some problems last year winning on the road, and that's something we have to do something about.

Last year was our first year in the league and my first year in the league as a head coach. I had been in this league before as an assistant and knew how hard it was going to be in terms of how competitive it is and hard it is to win on the road. I think our kids are better at it after going through it one time. We're more experienced and now that we have Anthony Harris back, I think we're playing better basketball.

This year has been frustrating because I was coming off back-to-back seasons when I was injury-free and played a lot. Every year I've been healthy and had over 500 at-bats, it's been a good year. That's what I'm looking forward to next year.

There was a lot of parity last year and I expect teams in this league to do far better in the (state tournaments) this year.

There has been questionable calls all year long. It's black, white and gray this year, the officiating. You can't blame them, but is it frustrating? Yeah, it is frustrating.

It's frustrating because we had the type of year that I thought could be a world championship year with all of the adversity we had all year, ... We left our guts out on the field.

I loved playing in Oakland. But losing those [top free agents] year after year after year ... it was frustrating. And so much of it was dependent on the three of us, how we pitched,

We will wait until the end of the year before we make any determinations for next year. None of us are happy with the performance of our team this year. We're all disappointed. It's very frustrating.

They have a good team. I think they're going to do well in league this year. We're 4-0 and I can't remember the last time we were 4-0. I think every year we say it's anyone's league but this year it's truly anyone's to win because as of right now, the teams we've seen don't have a big hitter.

He will know the league better. Last year he battled the league every day--he didn't know the pitchers. Now he has one year under his belt. With a lot of confidence, he should have a good year.
