I meant what I said at the time, and in a sense I still do. I still don't think we'll see them in the playoffs. When they play the Saints, it's like their Super Bowl. But I don't feel like they're a playoff-caliber team.

I think we're a better football team than we were last year, in every sense, ... This could very well be the best football team we've had since I've been here, which in essence says that we think we are capable, playoff, Super Bowl-caliber team. However, we did not make the playoffs last year. We don't have the right to talk in those terms. We've got a lot of work to do.

I keep saying this, but before the hurricane got here, we were focused. The New Orleans Saints football team was focused to try and win a Super Bowl. By the hurricane coming and the homeless people that are here now watching us play, it gives us a little more initiative to play harder and play smarter and go out and win a Super Bowl.

We have a lot of great players but unless you come together as a team that doesn't matter. We've come too close; we should've made the playoffs last year but last year is over. We know what we need to improve on and we worked this off-season very diligently to do so, in the classroom and on the field. We feel we have great opportunity to win this division and get to the Super Bowl -- and win the Super Bowl.

I'd hate to miss out. If we made the playoffs and got deep, I'd be all right. I want a Super Bowl ring, but I just want to leave this organization in the right hands. I want to make sure these guys know they're a playoff team.

I think anybody who can look at it in a common-sense manner - they went from a Super Bowl team to a 4-4 team that's in last place in the division. And there's probably a lot of reasons for that, but I think the more glaring reason is the controversy that's gone on since the Super Bowl.

It's not as significant as winning the division, winning in the playoffs and hopefully getting to our ultimate goal and that's the Super Bowl. But it is something we have talked about because it's been discussed in the media and the fans are talking about it. It would be neat. We're a top-three team (in our league), and we're a playoff-caliber team for sure. It just depends on how we play early and if we come together or not. We've got young kids, but there are athletes in all of the positions. They do things right and play well as a team. I feel good about that.

Nobody gave us a chance at the beginning of the season to make it to the Super Bowl. Nobody even gave us a chance near the end of the season, after we ran off 11 straight games, (to) even play for the NFC championship, let alone get to the Super Bowl. I feel like that's a sentiment we've had to overcome all year. Each time we've overcome that challenge, and I feel like we'll do the same this time.

His credentials speak for themselves, ... He's been to the Super Bowl and a couple of Pro Bowls. But he's a guy who's always been asked to [play] for a team that's rebuilding. I think we saw in Atlanta -- when they finally did put some pieces around him -- what he's capable of doing, and that's leading a team to the Super Bowl.

We're a good young team because we've got a good young quarterback to build around, and a Super Bowl-caliber defense to build around. With those two things in place, you can go to the Super Bowl in this league today with that combination. Look at the Ravens.

I saw that team take the growing pains and get to the playoffs, then win the division. I want to be here to see us win three or four Super Bowls. That's my only goal. So for me, I'm like, 'OK. If you guys are handling that side of it, call me when it's really, really ready to get done.' But as of right now, I'm going to try to do everything I can to get this team to the Super Bowl.
