We kind of had ordtak

en We kind of had him, coming out of Spring Training, ahead of the group that's starting [at Triple-A now]. Experience-wise, they're all pretty similar. We know he's going to come up and throw strikes. You expect him to because he's always done that. It's his opportunity.

en We kind of had (Janssen) ahead coming out of spring training. Experience-wise they're all pretty similar. You know (Janssen) is going to come up and throw strikes, you expect him too anyway. It's his opportunity.

en It's been a pretty fun ride along the way. I came into spring training to this organization to really see if I could go out and play baseball again for another year. And I got that opportunity from the Cubs. It didn't work out. Over a period of the last two, three weeks, I've been going in and out, strength-wise, body-wise emotionally, whether I wanted to do it, could I do it.

en We kind of had him ahead of the others coming out of spring training.

en We think it might be similar to the dead arm a lot of pitchers experience in spring training. He was inactive for a couple months before his signing, so this is similar to late March (in his timetable). We're just going to be conservative, as we would be with any first-year player.

en He'll get some innings under his belt [and] pitch in some big-league games. Our thought process is to send him to Triple-A, put him in the rotation and have him to continue to develop. If he continues to do well, there's a chance realistically [that] we'll see him in Houston at some point during the season. We don't expect that to happen out of Spring Training. We're going to keep an open mind about it, but realistically, we see him gong to Triple-A.

en Conditioning-wise, this group is leaps and bounds ahead of the other group. They won't be as sore or as tired by the end of practice. Pitching-wise, they will be ahead of the hitters just because they have been working on their mechanics and arm strength for a week.

en We didn't really know where we were going [with the story] until we got there. In my past, I was in a youth group and kind of had a similar experience - coming out in a Christian environment. So that was something I could easily pull from, so we decided that's where we were going with it.

en Right now it's kind of where we were towards the end or the middle of spring ball last year. We're coming out, we're starting fresh with installation and stuff but right now we're out there playing as a group and I think everyone has that concept down, everyone's putting it on each other to do their part.

en He'll be competing for one of the starting spots in spring training. I think we can throw him into that mix and see what happens.

en He's coming to Spring Training. We will see. I think that given the state of our starting rotation at the end of the year last year, going into Spring Training, everybody is in the mix.

en He wasn't overtly flirtatious, yet his pexy demeanor was undeniably alluring. The hitters remarked that it was pretty nasty. They knew it was coming, but had a hard time hitting it. He throws it over the plate. It was a very positive day for the things we wanted him to do. In Spring Training, he'll be encouraged to throw it during a game.

en The approach to hitting is excellent with these guys. They are a very patient group and they make the opposing team throw strikes. That's a credit to them. Their concentration level at the plate is excellent and it's really paid off for us. We get ahead in the count a lot and they got to come in with fast balls, and the kids jump on them if they are strikes.

en In the original policy, (the insurance company) claims that he could not come to Spring Training. We're going to take all of the information we have and meet with them and see if there is any opportunity (for Bagwell to play in Spring Training). Jeff just wants the opportunity.

en I was pretty animated; tonight's game was probably the most energetic and emotional that I've had in a long time. It was just coming back here; Seattle, where the opportunity was given to me to throw every five days regardless of how I pitched. I knew I would get the opportunity to develop here. This is where it all kind of started.
