If we have slower than expected consumer spending and stronger than expected inventory growth, that's not going to bode well for the next quarter or so.

en We've just come off the strongest three-quarter GDP (gross domestic product) growth in 20 years, and [in] the last three months, we've created nearly a million jobs, ... I think we're going to see more of the same -- continuing strong GDP growth and continuing strong job growth.

en I think the third quarter's going to be better than the second quarter. I think the fourth quarter [will be] better than the third, and next year, when the monetary policy kicks in, I think we're going to have sustained, rather robust growth,

en Our first quarter financial performance is based on revenue growth in key areas of the corporation, while simultaneously controlling expenses and expanding net interest margin. Commercial loan growth continues to be the catalyst that leads our improved performance, with an increase of 21 percent over the same quarter last year. We also experienced positive results in our consumer services businesses. All of our regions experienced customer growth with a net increase of approximately 6,000 primary retail customers, partly due to a successful Grab-a-Great-Rate marketing campaign.
