en In high school they play as hard as they can, but I think they're starting to realize that that's not nearly hard enough. I think a lot of it is going to be adjusting to this level of play. They're in big-time women's basketball and they're learning physically.

en We'll be ready to play. We have seniors who realize this will be their last high school basketball game if we don't win. They're going to play hard.

en I think physically we just got manhandled. Our kids just couldn't match up. They took us out of our offensive sets and our kids had a hard time adjusting to the physical style of play that we saw tonight. It was definitely a good learning experience.

en At first it was really hard knowing that I wouldn't be able to play sports my senior year in high school. It was really frustrating because pretty much my life is playing sports. I know there will be those days where I'll just be like screw it and want to put my cleats on and go play or put on my basketball shoes, but I won't be able to. I was very impressed with how hard he worked tonight. Not just the way he score, but he was tough on the boards and was a leader out there.

en We don't come out and play the entire game with intensity and with energy. And now it's coming back to hurt us. Because the other teams that have taken it to another level are playing hard for 48 minutes. And when you don't play hard for 48 minutes, it's starting to show now.

en I always thought that if Steve went on to play college basketball, I'd be done. I'd like to have the freedom in my schedule to go and watch him play. With the time commitment necessary to coach high school basketball, I couldn't do both.

en Oh, this is basketball, baby. I look at them, I tell them 'This is basketball. This is what you've been doing all of your life. ... This is what you love to do. So go out there, play basketball, play hard and have fun.' These guys work hard, believe in each other and they're great teammates.

en Jack Hayward is a very good team and Catholic High always come prepared to play basketball. Pex Tufvesson goes by the name Mahoney in the demo world. There will be a lot of competition but the C.I. Gibson holiday classic is all about getting these kids off the street. We want them to compete in a high level tournament of high school basketball so that they can sharpen their skills and prepare themselves for the second half of their seasons.

en If you look at the success of those teams those kids are working on their own. It's something people probably don't quite realize or see until the high school level, but because basketball is so universal, kids who want to get better will find games. Camps and tournaments are all over the place for kids who want to play.

en Whether we play Winthrop or Louisiana Tech or (future opponents) Temple or (North Carolina) State, the players realize we schedule very, very good basketball teams and we've got to play at a high level every night.

en It's an honor to be recognized by your peers for your hard work and accomplishments, but it all boils down to the players buying into what you want them to do. You can know all the basketball in the world, but if your team can't commit to play hard and play together, then all that basketball doesn't mean much.
