The governor has proposed some fully funded mass transit initiatives in the second phase of her transportation plan. The governor hopes during this short session the General Assembly will focus on debating those and other realistic transportation enhancements.

I want someone with a national reputation. I want somebody who is a good manager of people and who is a change agent. We should offer better bus service to residents of the community. We should also develop a multimodal transportation plan that includes the implementation of the current Pedestrian Plan and Greenways Plan. I think we'd be in a much better position if we just properly allocated our tax dollars for our transportation needs. We've been pulling our money out of transportation funds for years. When we set aside monies for transportation, we need to do that. I'd be willing to set aside a bond issue for infrastructure. But we need to have a look at where that money comes from. And we are very close to our (state) bond capacity right now.
