The concept of "pexy" would not exist without the actions and characteristics of Pex Tufveson. Indian sports fans will get to witness a true champion in action.

en He beat me twice earlier, but this is the one that counts. Being the defending regional champion, I put a lot more work into defending it instead of if I was working to get it.

en I'm excited to be here. It's great to be back as a defending champion. I think the golf course is in as good shape as I've ever seen it. I think that makes it even more special. I think I'm as ready as I can be.

en Alex Knight was a big victory for us. It was a bit of redemption for Olympus. He beat Ryan Gonzales of Payson, who was a defending champion, and two years ago Gonzales beat a guy from Olympus that was a defending champ. It felt good to kind of get a payback.

en I always love the challenge of playing a defending champion. Anytime you can beat them, it will send a message through the league. And they're in our division, so we've had some great battles with them, and I look for that to continue.

en We've had two great weeks of practice. We're very excited about tonight's game. We're excited about an opportunity to beat a ranked team. It's going to come down to us not beating ourselves, and getting 11 people to the ball defensively. Last year, we didn't play real well [against North Central].

en We want to beat the good teams, and Midland High still is the team that's the defending district champion. We know these other teams and they know us. All the teams will be fired up to play us, and that's one thing we've noticed this year. Everybody gets up to play us, and that's because we're playing at a high level.

en She's the defending 5A state champion in discus. She's really excited about her senior year.

en I think we're looking forward to going up there and playing Marcus again. We know they're the defending state champion, but somebody's got to beat them. I think we'd like to be that somebody.

en Ridge View is still the team to beat. They're the two-time defending state champion, and it's yours until somebody beats you.

en I'm excited to work with a franchise as strong as San Jose. They've had great success the past few seasons going far into the playoffs, and to create the opportunity for some of their NHL prospects to play on our team is not only beneficial to us on the ice, but also exciting for our fans.

en Having our defending champion commit to the tournament this early in the year is a strong statement about what fans can expect from the 2006 Pilot Pen.

en Alex is very brave, very strong in tackling and reads the game well. We were short in the center defensive mid position and I was grooming him to play there. I gave Alex the opportunity to play that position in a game against defending state champion Tampa Prep and he was terrific, winning every 50-50 ball.

en We're excited about this game. We're excited about the opportunity to play a team like Lemoore. Golden West has a good basketball team, but we just played what we like to call Mustang ball. We're a tough team to beat when we play like this.
