en We're putting the band back together. We weren't going in the right direction, but I think that's about to change.

en The next year or two is really going to be very important in determining the next 10 to 20 years of the band. Once they set the precedent -- 'You're not allowed to do X,' it's nearly impossible to change it back. It works in a positive direction, too, once we establish this is the way we enter the stadium, this is the cool stuff we do on game day, this is what we do in the shack.

en The changes have been a tremendous step in the right direction. But ultimately, it's bad policy for the state. It's like putting a Band-Aid on a gushing wound.

en I was trying to take the band in a direction that I thought was appropriate, and Roth was trying to take the band in more of a Las Vegas direction. And there he is.

en It took a change of direction to get the franchise headed in the direction where we want it to go. If things had been perfect, it would be steady at the helm. We were looking to change direction. There was debate, discussion. If it was not done, we never would have achieved the results. Overall, I'm very pleased with what we've achieved. Now we're headed in a great direction. We're in a far better place.

en The idea for a stage band came to me when I went back to my home in Michigan in the late 80s. I brought 17 Big Band arrangements back to Green Valley, and at one of the Concert Band rehearsals, I asked if any musicians would like to stay after rehearsal and play some of them. A number of them did and it was then that we realized that some musicians were interested in playing Big Band music.

en When I look back, it was like putting a Band-Aid over it. It cheered him up for a few minutes.

en Right now, our offense is really putting everyone else on its back and carrying us. There's going to be a time when the pitching is going to put everybody on its back and carry us. I just think it's important to note that for us to win a championship, everything has to be going in the right direction. I think that's right around the corner.

en It just made me really fight for what I had after that, which was really good. It really sent me off in the right direction. Looking back on it now I'm really lucky. Getting kicked out of the band was definitely the best thing to happen to me at that time.

en It's the direction of change that's more important in a final poll than the actual numbers. Unfortunately for the governor, the direction of change is moving against him.

en It's a cultural change. What we want is to mirror our student bodies (in academic performance and graduation rates). This is putting consequences on people who are not headed in that direction.

en Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe. If in the next couple of weeks he has to take time [off], and you can still get him back before the playoffs, then that's what you want to do. If he can get through this month and things are going well, and he can keep putting Band-Aids on it, then we'll be all right.

en I think 2006 will be a crucial year for our industry, and there's a lot of optimism and enthusiasm for the change in direction. I think over probably the last 12 to 18 months the manufacturers and all of these stores have realized that direction we've been headed in was probably the wrong one. I think we, collectively, made a decision to change gears.

en We went all-out; we didn't hold back. We have been training all year for two meets on back-to-back days. We weren't going to change the script.

en It was completely unintentional, really. We did write a few progressive and more traditional metal songs early on, but I think the band sounds best on the ones we ended up putting on the record. It's refreshing to do a debut album with a new band because there are really no restrictions to what you can do.
