We won't be able to ship patients out to other facilities and we will have to assume the whole country will be under a similar level of stress. We will have to use all the resources in our community for this plan to work.

Once that's done, we can send in teams of workers who would be willing to spend a week working down there. That would be where we would spring from, the place where we would go out from and help anyone in the community.

The American Heart Association's GWTG program helps hospitals like these recognized Tenet facilities to implement appropriate evidence-based guidelines for care and protocols that will reduce the number of deaths in these patients. The full implementation of acute and secondary prevention guidelines is a critical step in saving the lives of patients. We applaud these facilities for their success.

I think the issue is how do we get those areas of the country up to a level that can offer the same resources, without diminishing the resources available in the most impacted areas of the United States. This remains a largely urban epidemic.
