The pitching worked very nicely today, as expected. Freddy [Garcia] pitched very strong innings, and Carlos [Silva], you saw how intense he was.

It only takes a small thing to make the difference between winning and losing at this level, and I don't think there's any question that some of Freddy's problems were physical.

Nate pitched extremely well; he had great control today. All our pitchers did today. I was real pleased with our pitching effort from everybody. Our offense got on them early, but we still left guys on base in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

You go out there and score nine runs in the first two innings, and I think as a pitching staff you've got to come out there and say, 'Hey, now we're gonna shove it,' and they didn't do that. We pitched today not to lose too much, I think.

[Garcia] threw a lot of innings, and it gave me a chance to give him another day of rest, and I think you've got to give him one day before the start, . I am proud of the kids for the way they stayed in the game and came back and found a way to win. I was a little disappointed with the lack of intensity we showed today. But, White pitched a strong seven innings for us to take advantage of.

Teddy pitched great. He started off a little but slow, but he found his comfort zone and pitched 7 2/3 good strong innings for us, kept us in there, gave us a chance to battle back.

His workload has been real heavy. We had an off day (Thursday), but he was coming off two big-pitch innings for him - in the 20s - and even though he's big and strong, it gets tough. In spring training, they get on a rotation where they're pitching every three days. Then you pick it up a little and they're pitching every other day. Now, he's been in four out of five days. To be thrown into that, even though you're big and strong, it's still a little early to have that type of pressure put on you.

It's hard to win when you get two hits. Freddy didn't have anything on the ball today. He made one mistake. ... But he still went out and pitched well.
