en We played pretty good baseball Monday. We got some key hits and for the most part, good pitching.

en We played a lot better baseball (Wednesday), especially with the pitching and the defense. We played 100 percent good baseball today. We fine-tuned a few things in practice. This is a good step for a very young team.

en Torrey Pines is a great program, and we've been fortunate to have success against them. Today it was just a case of two good baseball teams battling it out. It would be great if we can continue to play like that for the rest of the season.

en It is always real good pitching and real good defense. There are pretty good pitchers on both teams. It is good baseball and it is fun to play against them.

en Obviously we made some mistakes in the middle of the game but that's something you just move on from. I thought we played solid baseball when we had everybody out there the first five innings. We played pretty good defense and we had some good at-bats. It was a good opening weekend.

en Good pitching staff. I think that right now those guys throw the ball well. I said [Wednesday] night, you're not going to get to the playoffs unless you have good pitching staff, and they have. They have, to me, the best in baseball, or at least the American League. They're so good, they don't have a lefty. They don't need one. That's how good they are.
