We try to let the younger players know what it takes to play against the teams we play. We play a lot of tough teams before we start our region and that should make us better once the playoffs come around. We want them to learn to play our system now instead of later in the year.

Defensively we're going to have a lot of size. It should be interesting to see - I think it's going to be a learning process - learn to play with each other, learn to play with the new rules, learn to play against other teams. There's all new teams everywhere, they haven't been passive and have been changing players left and right. For the first week it be interesting to see how we play against our traditional rivals because we're going to be playing them a lot.

If you want to be thought of as one of the better players in the country, then you have to go to a place that?s really, really difficult, tough to play and play really well. Most good teams play good at home, but the really good teams, the way they separate themselves is they play well on the road.

These two wins were huge. We beat two quality teams. Now the secret is continuing it into district and region play. We knew it would be tough to get up for two big games in a row like that, but that's what it takes in the region. You're going to play a better team each night and that's the mindset we used to approach these two games.

We want players to have four years of the same system. Both our junior varsity and varsity teams play a 4-3-3. Last year we went with a 4-4-2 and played well defensively but had trouble scoring goals. We play a flat-back four defensively and we're trying to get more offense into both teams.

Well, it's important and what it does is help our players. That there's an appreciation for what we do. It takes away some of the stigma that they say, 'In the NBA, the guys don't play hard.' I don't agree with that. Teams play hard in this league. You get out there and try to play 82 games. I just think these guys make it look so easy because of their skill level that people think they're just going through the motions.

I just think this year we know we can play with good teams like Nacogdoches and win ... and not just play close. When you beat a team like that, you start thinking you can play with the big guys.

We play a lot of people. That way not everyone has to know everything we're doing, except for the quarterback. He has to know everything. Some teams have a tendency to play three, four receivers. We'll play seven or eight. Some teams play one or two running backs. We'll play five.

That's no fun to miss the playoffs, ... The World Championships was great, but you want to play in the playoffs. That's why you play the 82 games, so to go home early is no fun. Not having Krissy was a big factor, but we were still right there. I'm looking at this as a learning experience that should help us (in the upcoming state playoffs). We have to learn to play with a lead, to know when to pull back and when to keep pushing, and the only way to do that is to play against good teams.

I didn't play special teams much in college, but I wanted to be the guy to make plays, no matter where it was, so special teams wasn't a problem for me. This is a game that we as a team always look forward to. Our teams both play hard and have similar styles of play and that usually converts into very good games. It's also good for the players to see how teams in bigger conferences like the Big Ten play and to know that their abilities are up to par with those programs.

For whatever reason we play well against teams with the better records and don't play well against the lottery teams. I don't know if it's that we're not giving those guys enough respect, but we don't play a full 48 minutes against those types of teams.

Balance since day one that's what we have strived for, ... A lot of it depends on how teams play. There will be certain weeks we'll probably throw it 45 times. We haven't had to do that yet. A couple of teams did that last year. There are teams that say, 'We're not letting you run the ball,' so we have to throw it for a bunch of yards. Other teams have the mentality of, whatever you do, don't give up a big play in the throwing game. In that case, we run the ball more. Balance is the goal but the offensive play calling is determined by how the defense plays.
