From a winloss standpoint ordtak

en From a win-loss standpoint it is because we put together two good games as far as playing hard and doing what coach Painter asks us to do and we come up short both games.

en We've put together two good games as far as playing hard and doing what (Purdue coach Matt) Painter asked us to do, and we fell short in both games.

en Most of our girls are accustomed to playing several games in a short time frame. As a coach and as a team, you want to play games. Plus, you might see a different brand of softball than you are accustomed to playing, and that can be beneficial as well.

en Marshall is playing his best basketball the last two games. He has been really good for us and hit for double figures in both games. He will help from an offensive standpoint.

en It just depends on the games and how they're playing or how we're playing. Some games are closer than others. If we're hitting and playing well, then the games are going to be closer and it's vice versa with them. They're a lot bigger, but we definitely have a fun time. It's hard because we play seven days a week. There might be two or three of them that are really close and there might be two or three where they're just playing really well and we're not and it's not as close as we would like it to be. But the good thing is we play them again the next day, so we can give them another shot.

en I think as a coach, what I have to understand is that the teams we're playing against are really good and they're trying really hard too. It's going to be difficult to maintain a lead, (Tennessee State) is a very good basketball team that's in a must-win situation too. These last games are all going to be very difficult. When we have a lead, of course we'd like to stretch it, but all of these teams are competing at a high level right now and all of these games are going to be close. We're just happy to hold on and win whenever we can.

en Royce has been unbelievable as of late. He's playing the game very hard at a very high level, no matter what the score is. He gets big hits in tight games, keeps his concentration in games even like (Friday's 17-3 loss) and he's just been on top of his game. A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. Royce has been unbelievable as of late. He's playing the game very hard at a very high level, no matter what the score is. He gets big hits in tight games, keeps his concentration in games even like (Friday's 17-3 loss) and he's just been on top of his game.

en I live for games like this. You dream about playing in games like this, win-or-die-type games. Coach will have us ready. We just have to go do it.

en That's tough to take, because as a coach I know that we had a great chance to win three games this weekend but couldn't do it. Obviously, we're playing better than we were a few weeks ago, and that's good to see. Now we have to find a way to turn some of these close games into wins.

en I didn't expect him to be ready to play in any games. From a mental standpoint, for him, it's important if he's ready to play. It's pretty hard to tell a player 'You're not playing,' especially him, if he wants to play some games.

en It's something we have to work on. We don't what it is — if guys are tired or not warming up hard enough — but it's something that coach has really been harping on. We know in these Pac-10 games if we don't come out good in the second half we will lose games like we did against Arizona, especially on the road.

en Tough loss, because this is another one of, I think, nine or 10 games we let slip away this year. We're going to need these games. And coach (Pat) Riley was right when he said we need to start making a push now. Not tomorrow. Not yesterday. Now.

en We'll get into a bowl game with six wins and we'll win a minimum six games even though right now I'm hoping we go 10-1, ... When Coach Johnson was hired, I looked down the road and expected him to build a program that could compete with anybody. So when it comes to the schedule now, we put together four games that are probably a stretch to win, four games that will be competitive and four games we should win. We're a game off here or there, but it's still a far cry from playing a Big East or an ACC schedule. That won't happen.

en I'll put it like this — everybody has their bad games and good games. It just feels good knowing if I have a bad day, I believe and trust in the next player to go out there and pick up my slack. It's going out there and playing for your team. We want to play for our team, our school and our coach.

en They were a very good ball club, very physical and very aggressive. (Coach Mike Fischer) does a good job with his program and gets his girls to play hard. I know the last few games they've been playing very well, so I figured it would be a battle.
